I'm thinking of just going the way we came home Scott. Traffic was really bad on the 210 West for me last time... Take the 57 North, 210 East, 15 North,
138 West to the 18 West, and finally 14 North... I'm still workin' on tire/wheel combo...

Patrick, I had no issues with the 5 fwy in the morning last time. 85+ all the way except in the downtown area where I slowed to maybe 65. Why not just take the 5 fwy (or is it out of your way)?

Have we come up with a meeting place near the 14 - 5 interchange?
Dave, If you want I could take the 101 and swing by your place. Just means leaving a little ealier then usual. Whats your time frame from your house to the 14 - 5 interchange? Man I am in need of this day. Work is killing me!

Dan,
Sleep in. It's no biggie. I just thought you were taking the 101. I am leaving no later than 5. Anyone know if Vans slip-ons are ok? I have never had them get in the way or fall off... Dave

I don't see why not. I think you answered your own question.
As for a meeting place place, let me see what I can find out there. I'll get back with ya. |

Also, there's a McDonalds right next to the 5 freeway just before the 14 at 12860 Encinitas Ave Sylmar, CA 91342. It's right off the Roxford street exit (or Sepulveda on the other side of the freeway). There looks to be a gas station right across the street too.
Here's the Googlemaps page: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=12860+Encinitas+Ave,+Sylmar,+CA+91342&ie=UTF8&om=1&t=h&z=16&ll=34.304219,-118.478&spn=0.007569,0.021329&iwloc=addr But Patrick's meeting place is good too. What should it be? Starbucks or MDonalds? |

I don't drink coffee and McD's makes me ill. Looks like McD's is a little closer to the freeway. Either way, I'll have my Red Bull in hand.

Starbucks then? It looks like it'll be easier for Dan to get there from the 126.

Patrick and Chris, let's meet at the Fullerton Park and Ride at 5 AM (or maybe a few minutes before, no later). From there it's about 55 miles to the Starbucks off the 14 that you linked to so it should be an hour or less to get there, which'll get us there to meet up with Dave and Dan by 6 AM. From Starbucks it's another 56 miles to Willow Springs, so we should be there by 7 AM or so. Perfect.
Weather looks great tomorrow. Light wind, but cold in the morning. Dress appropriately. Last edited by 450knotOffice; 12-12-2006 at 10:35 AM.. |

I am packing up right now, just printed Jack's list to see what I have available. I even got my haircut so I am guaranteed my head will fit inside the helmet.

Just got in about 7:45pm and wanted to say thank you to everyone for a great day.
Scott (450knotoffice), thank you for talking me into this event. My adrenaline is still kicking about 5 hours after being off the track. Jack, thanks for a great ride. I apologize for getting sick in BB2, apparently I am not that good of a passenger but wow your driving is beyond belief and absolutely incredible. It's almost impossible to put words to it. Dan, it was a pleasure to meet you. Dave and Patrick, had a great time with you guys as well and see you Saturday. I will post some pix as I download them.

What a day!!! That was too much fun!! I want to go again, but sadly, my engine needs a bit of work. 224,000 miles without a top-end job, can't really complain now can I. Looks like, at a minimum, I need to perform the 90,000 top-end. With a little elbow grease and some rubbing compound, I will get my front valance looking like new. Poor traffic cone. Why it decided to commit suicide on the 5, we will never know.
Scott, Chris, Pat, Dan and Jack, Thanks for such a great day. I wish I would have done this sooner. I have a long way to go with my driving, but I did feel that I had improved greatly by my 4th session. My brain is still controlling too much and affected my line and ability to go faster. Next time.... Jack, your car is tremendous! Thank you for the two laps. Had there not been the checkered, I could have gone around a few more times. Thank you as well for driving me in my car as well. It's friggin' amazing what a street 911 can do and a Targa to boot! I hope I can drive my car the way you did some day. Ok, some pictures to follow. Dave
