Plastic window pull straps
Does anybody know where i can find pull straps for my plastic windows. I'm removing the window regulators and i need something to keep the window closed. I've seen pictures of these straps but can't seem to find them. Any ideas? Thanks.

My advice would be to not throw away your regulators. If it's a street-driven car, the sliding plastic windows get old fast -- at least they did for me. I went back to glass on the sides and front.

I used some nylon webbing from my local hardware store.
Looped around the bottom of the window and secured with a small nut & bolt. Cheers

try using a leather belt - just cut off the buckle.

I got some nylon from my local ACE hardware and then kit to make grommets.
Works great. Even with the stock glass windows and no regulators. I have a window up position and a window down position for use on track. My glass stays in the car when racing and without a regulator I want to hold up to keep it from boucing around inside the door. ![]()

Did they get old because it took more effort to raise and lower them? Were they noisy? Lack of adjustability? Other? |

I don't need windex... That goo is from old window tint I removed. However it left a mess of goo all over the inside of the glass. Never bothered to clean it as when I drive the car the window goes down. So visibility is a non-issue, but keeping the glass in so I can seal it to minimize weather is perfect.

I had the same issues as jack. I actually installed the Polycarbonate in the window regulator and tried this. Same issue with the plastic binding in the window frame. I now have glass for the roll-up section.

Sounds like you guys were using flat plastic for doors instead of curved glass. That flat trying to fit in curve frame rail was the source of binding.

I used leather straps for a while, with glass windows. The attachment points were snaps from the local upholstery store.
It looked very cool, vintage and racy. But...the glass window would slide down just a tad and there'd be an annoying leak at the top when I drove on the street. I put the stock regulators back in. They weigh next to nothing and they do exactly what you need them to do.

Kundensport has the right idea....
One suggestion: Instead of using rivets to fasten the strap, use a second strip of aluminum to "pinch/clamp" the strap with(putting a fastener on either side of the leather, not through it). This way, when the leather/holes stretch, you can loosen the clamp, readjust the strap and tighten. Works great. Todd Rudaitis Rennprojekt |

kundensport, i saw in your picture that you are using a rear lid pull handle for your door release. Did you modify the cable or did you make a rod to open the door? Thanks
