Amen brother, I did the same exact thing and it’s worked out great.

Maybe it's that he's not a crook spending my money on his wants?
I mean how do you make all that money on 0.25%? You would need $100,000,000.00 under management to make $250k. Not everyone can pull in the big fishes.

I think you've confused someone in finance with a money manager or stock broker.

I think impact bumpers are way cool. I know a chick with nice "impact bubbles", they are cool, as well.
Am I off-topic?

I was happy to sell my 78 for 35500, and it was flipped for significantly more, then the buyer added
2000 worth of updates, the market is strong on nice sc 's no doubt, I miss mine but it was time to let it go.

Seems that things are calming down a bit but the local, excited, buyers who are really jonesin' for a nice 911 seem to be willing to shell out the cash for a nice one when in front of it...a la the flip.

I helped a guy sell a nice '83, paint to sample, 3 years back and he was elated to take $27k. Told him it was being undersold, he was happy to get rid of it. Buyer ended up flipping it with an asking of $38k...

It seems to becoming really obvious that people are realizing how much money it takes to take a car with needs to a nice car, 20k engine rebuilds, 10k paint jobs, etc.
So really nice cars with no needs are continuing to rise and people are paying up front for those cars.
Cars with needs are languishing or falling.

The market has gotten smarter and not just buying anything air cooled.

This is a good point. I bought a '79 in May I am restoring. I love doing the work myself but ultimately my end product will have substantially more in it that it is worth. I am ok with that. However I could have very easily spent substantially more up front for a done vehicle that will reasonably maintain its value vs what I am doing where I will end up 10,20, maybe 30k in the hole.
From a purely financial perspective I made the wrong choice but I put value in the experience and fun of building it just how I like it so it is all good.

I’ve never understood why so many choose to finance a long term project vs just buying the well sorted car to begin with. I’m guessing some of it has to do with preferring to put less down initially and self financing it over time, as in spending the money on the car when you have it, but that’s rarely the financially smart move. I think there’s still lots of dumb money buying these turds, otherwise they’d be far more inline with where they really should be, which is much cheaper. I think many of these turds (project cars) have no value beyond parts cars, yet people still restore them and then end up so far underwater once finished. It’s a strange phenomenon to say the least.

Agreed. Wow - not sure if this is a total outlier or represents the top of the market now for an absolutely no excuses G50 coupe.

No different than standard politics. It doesn’t fit the agenda of a cooling bubble. Thanks for opening the window as it was getting stuffy in here
