N/A GT3 to go away
I don't know if any of you remember this past summer a lot of the "car industry influencers" car journalist said the new 991.2 GT3 more than likely will have a turbo on it and they will go completely away from an N/A motor. I have heard some reports on the new car that the GT3 will remain N/A, has anyone heard anything on this? Just curious.

Call me crazy but my guess is it will depend on the rules of the GT3 class which the car is based on?

Not anymore. The Cup Car has been independent of GT3 street cars for more than a decade now.

The consensus on the GT3 forum on Rennlist seems to be that it will stay aspirated at least for the 992.1 version.

Naturally aspirated is the correct term.

Yeah I am thinking about scooping up a 997.1 GT3 before they get out of touch. My fear is once the N/A GT3 is dead there will be a spike in the N/A GT3 market. Just trying to ahead of the curve. I believe the 991.2 GT3 will remain N/A but that could be the last N/A Porsche will make for the consumer market. Because I am sure the follow gen after that will go with boost.

The nonsense is that it’s somehow special because it’s the last one. It went through the GT4 market 2 years ago. People were paying silly money for them. And then a year later were trying to sell them and taking huge hits to value. It’s your money. If you can afford to take a $30-40k hit when the bottom falls out, go for it. Or maybe you just want to own it and drive it forever.

I just want one to own one and drive. I'm cool with a 997 or 997.1. Most are low miles and the prices keep coming down.
I think the "Ohhh, its the last of the XXX model I need it for my collection" will take 25 years; if ever. A gamble that I don't have the patience for. I buy what I like and if it somehow becomes valuable I got lucky.

The GT3 market is stupid. It has got to be one of the only markets that the perceived lack of supply is driving prices up when every other car on rennlist for sale is a GT3.

When I finish up using my 987.1 Cayman S as a test mule, I plan to sell it and buy a 997.1 C4S. 80% of the car a GT3 is at half the price.

![]() I never thought about the C4S. It's probably 80% nicer to drive on the street and your 20% less of a car during track days seems like a good compromise.

For years I was drinking the Mezger anti-IMS koolaid like everyone else. Then I got to work closely with BGB and Rum Bum racing the Carreras in Grand Am for a few seasons. The cars were super reliable and 100% 911s. Now I see them as a performance bargain.
