That most likely did it. For the mileage purist I would think the upgrades would put it in a category of not original anymore so maybe it will get driven. Good idea as the upgrades will add longevity to the motor. The wheels, well it is no RS and not so great on them either, so originality in some cases is a good idea.

Wow, the flesh-colored 78 with 55k miles sold for $82k. Seems pretty cheap.

Ugghh, That sucks for the seller. I bet he wishes there was a higher reserve on that car.

Raw, here it is, in ready to be spanked red and ready to stay with most street stuff, wheels are 345 X 15 rears 245 front on the real deal Italian Gotti wheels ( the brand they upgrade to on some Ferrari 's), not the knock off skinny ones most know about. The other wheels for higher speed runs after 10 seconds or so on the go pedal are near. Stay tuned. Not your granma's 930.

I like the red ones, Tony (just not the pinky-red or fleshy-toned-red ones, or any kind of metallic red) - remember, I am batshiit crazy for your Kremer!

BUTT that said, if the turbo POWAAAAA engine is laying down a sufficiently sized, carbon footprint, then the color doesn't mean all that much to me!

The Kremer is also red "But" this one is soooooo much faster. Perfect for those open Texas roads from whence it came. AC blows colder too.

$98K for the 33k miler. The 78 least US production year intercooled 930, gets only $82K. I'll take a recent +$60 spent refurbished by great shops 930 any day. Keep them and drive both for the next decade and see how they drive and look then. If the 87 was worth $98K the 78 was worth more. The color combo is not that bad compared to the 87 color combo.

While the new owner waits for delivery he or she might enjoy Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars getting Coffee on Netflix- Season called “Special Blend” episode 9. He features a 1979 twin to this car. Looks great on camera. Enjoy.

Another 930 on BAT Thoughts....?

The only thing holding the 78 back WAS the color..

OLD FART BROWN,CHAMPAGNE ect..

I would say this color is easily a $15,000 deduct.

While this color is rare.. It is hardly fitting for a SUPERCAR.

Yes it would work great on any number of buick, cadillac, lexus ect.

Hardly the color for a european supercar.

There is a testarossa painted in the same unfortunate color I’ve had me eye on for years.. I just cant bring myself to go look at it even at a steal.. although the ferrari community is far more receptive to color changes than the porsche community...

Cashmere beige is a wonderful color seen in person. Doesn't photograph well though, I agree. And more suited to a normal 911 than a Turbo, true. But still a wonderful color.

There is no such thing as "overpaid" if you are fine with the money spent.

BUTT I've gotta say, are you really going to put a 1987 era steering wheel back on?!?! One of those hideous things would only look proper in a bread delivery truck or yer grandpa's station wagon. Who knows what the fook those Porsche factory boys were thinking.

I don't think you overpaid, just the cashmere beige 78 @ $82K was so cheap by comparison , as both being sold in the same time frame to the same audience. The upgrades done should have improved the longevity over the restrictive stuff however might make it difficult to pass the CA regs. Good luck with finding a way to continue using it the way it is.. Silver is one of the best for Porsche however the sun can kill it. So hopefully the previous owners kept it out of it when not driving it. Low miles so maybe not damaged to much up till now. ++ for the 87 dated Fuchs change out.

SoCal930,
How much did the unicorn 33k mileage play into your bidding? Would you be willing to own a 100k mile car for$80k? We never get to talk to the guy who is willing to pay a premium for super low miles, so it would be nice to hear it directly from the source, instead of assuming the thoughts of a mythical "collector". How did you already source the parts to get it back to stock ? Well done!

Unless it came with an actual unicorn in the frunk, there is nothing about this car that puts it in that category.
