Your 356 jokes never get old!

How we can both love the 930 while equally loathing the 356...I wonder how many more members of this club are out there.

If that thing were sitting in my yard I’d put a sign on it reading ‘free to whoever removes it off my property, no need to ask, just please take it’.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that I loath the 356, but that those cars always make me laugh. They look like a bar of soap shod with wheelbarrow wheels (aka - a clown car, bigtime).

How do you not loathe something you consider a clown car? Hmm...

Finally got the decklid open. I'm still interested in any opinions of possible value.

The question you should be asking yourself, or maybe others, is how much money will this cost to restore? And do you have it and are you wiling to spend it to bring this rust bucket back to life? Whatever ‘value’ it does have is minuscule at best. That’s the wrong question to be pondering.

I would bet anyone attempting this restoration project will be way upside down on it once it’s fully restored, so unless it’s just a passion project you want to take on regardless of cost, maybe find another car that isn’t already in the graveyard.

Well where is this car, I'd buy it in a second? As one of Ferry's sons said when judging at a Parade event, "The only real Porsches here today are the 356's" Not sure which son it was perhaps Wolfgang, doubt it was Butzi, as he helped design the 911.

It must be bad, because this is the first time none of you guys have said, "that'll buff out!"

That would be the only potential value that I see in it, and even then it’s an acquired taste.

That engine is totally saveable. The carbs, case, and heads are all aluminum. I’ve seen worse remanufactured.

The question here REALLY is: DO you want to do it? If you WANT to do it, you'll find a way. If you're just worried about money, that's a different story.

I'm going to guess $5k purely due to the engine parts being able to be parted out.

Defiantly fixable. If you do all the work yourself there is profit to be made.
I saw one a guy restored in much worse condition. He paid $4500 and was in it about $25,000 and it was very nice when done.

Remember, not all cars need to be restored. You could source a used hood, nerf bars or bumpers, primer or paint it satin black and make it a driver. I would value it at $10,000 maybe more as it sits.

Get it, scrub it down, don't dismantle it unless your ready to go all in. $$$
Get it driving, spend the minimum on it, guys love patina rides. Go for it.

Get the VIN # and put it in 356A.com search engine.
Then do the same with the motor #

Dude, did you even look at the pics at the top of page one? Here's a reminder:

Do you think a car that has rotted so much that it's now partially underground will, with a quick scrub down, be back on the road as a "patina ride?"

The middle of this car has become dust. Dust, I say.
