356 rust bucket

Is this worth anything as a VIN donor or something, there are a few trim parts that look usable, I couldn't get the decklid open to have a look at the engine but I'm not optimistic

heh, I used to have one of those only worse. Finally decided it was time to move it along, and that it required much more work than really feasible.

1963 T6 coupe. Definitely worth some dollars to someone. The question of whether it's worth it for you is based on the asking price. Unless you're a master body man, it's a flip.

Even that chrome still retains its shine, speaks to the quality put into these. Is it me or do the 356s "age" better than the longhoods under similar conditions ?

I haven't been able to catch the owner as he is out of town frequently, I talked to him once and he does want to sell it but I neglected to ask how much, thought I would feel you guys out for a value first. Prsh356 I cant see anything under the car as its too sunk in the ground. I was thinking about trying to jack it up a bit to see underneath and try and get the decklid open, but I'm a little concerned that the car will come apart as the floor is gone, it might need to be disassembled in situ to be able to move it, I'll keep you all posted.

Offer to remove the rust bucket from his property at your expense. It’s a rusty yard art at this point. I bet even if you got that car for free, it won’t be worth what you put into it once the restoration is complete.

Because obviously the owner believes its got some real value to it by leaving it out to rot for decades. Right pmax? This is a classic value trap, it most likely carries real negative value in terms of it being a candidate for a full restoration. For a parts car, maybe it’s worth something.

Tried unsuccessfully to find the old 912 flower pot picture. Maybe Toby knows where it is...

That’s exactly what this is - a large planter. Too bad there’s no sunroof for the tree to grow out of it.

It depends on the condition of the barn.

I suspect if there were a barn, this wouldn’t be so rusty.

It does look like maybe there’s a barn behind it in the photo, too bad they didn’t keep the car in it. Or maybe that’s just an out house. LoL

They could be going for the rat rodded patina look the au naturale way.

And it doesn't look like it would be any slower now than when it was new!
