I saw it at a Porsche show surrounded by some of the rarest and most exotic Porsches in existence, and I could not even take a clean photo of the DLS due to the massive crowd of people gathering around it. There was no other car attracting anywhere near that kind of crowd, not at the show nor at any other Porsche event I’ve ever attended. In my opinion, it is one of the most substantial air cooled 911’s ever built even though Porsche didn’t build it. So let’s keep comparing it to a slammed and bagged 964 that couldn’t even break the 40k mark on BaT. This is a delusional discussion in that regard.

I've seen it a couple of times, most recently at Rennsport. It wasn't the star of the show there, but when you've got the most fantastic assortment of factory racing Porsches ever assembled, it's hard to be the star. I could see it being a darling in a sea of Ferraris and Lambos at a more pedestrian C&C even.

The DLS is a study model where they experiment with new tech trying to come up with solutions to make their cars perform better, save weight, etc. Not sure if everyone understands that; it’s not a production model. So in my opinion it doesn’t need to be “pretty” per se - function trumps form here.

Having said that I still think it looks spectacular. Keep seeing new little elements on the car the more you look at it.

Best of the best.

I doubt the DLS shows up to monthly C&C events. The event I saw it at is an annual event with 500 or so cars - all Porsche. It was surrounded by some of the most expensive and exclusive cars wearing a Porsche badge, and it was difficult to even get close to the DLS. If you wanted a photo taken along side a 918 spyder, a 959, or any other super rare Porsche, it wasn’t a problem. That wasn’t an option with the star of the show.

I had a rare opportunity t be up and personal with the Pearl White one that's pictured above at Singer. It was cool to see the clay modeling of the ducktail and seat as well

also have noticed there is a ton more CIS heart ache for you and P.B. Miagi to tend too than carb distress as of late. I realize the per capita of CIS users is higher than carb usage, but we carbmen tend to our business and get our stuff taken care of w/o calling for anyone to show us how to paint the fence. it's seems apparent carbs age more gracefully than the NLA CIS junk. silly, silly pnutz...

Yeah, I read your post and understood it. That wasn't my experience. In addition to the car, they had an engine and gearbox pair on a stand. I was able to walk right up to it and touch the thing. I've got pictures somewhere on my phone. Maybe I'll dig them up and you'll see how not swamped the car was.

Hogwash about, "not a car guy" - the bisch, pNutz, works on his 911 himself and even consistenty attempts to help clueless noobs make sense of the dinosaur tech, CIS system.

Truth. Max and I rarely see eye to eye but he’s a a Carrera Guy. He’s cut from the old cloth of why PP exists.

That's an amusing thread, and what's really funny is my "forum is dead meat" comment was made about three years ago in a thread that got recently necromanced.

ive got sox that have posted here prior to 5/14 when nutz landed. he plays his cards close to the vest to be sure, but with his extensive CIS knowledge I suspect he's an SC guy and not a Carrera disciple.

we all do love us some pnutz though. when I searched his pelican page this is what I saw....

you need to be more specific as I have no clue of what you are referring to.

Maybe that's why he got crickets? :p

Let me dig up that thread... If I recall, it started off from yet another one of the those caveman vs the ponyboy trouble making spars in CIS land.

juanbenae 07-10-2019 09:12 AM

for the pelican god's sake let it go pnutz. PB Miagi & and I have dusted up a number of times and if you think he's one up on me im fine with that. if it's important enough for you to waste some time digging up an old thread to make your point you have more time than me.

if you've got that kind of time while you are at it dig up the thread where I call him out for being a douche for the way he talks down to fellow posters while dispensing him vast CIS prowess. or when I ask him to teach us how to wax on wax off in his engine rebuilding class thread. id suggest the "wrong hole" post, but he had the admins delete it because I guess it offended his sensitive side.
