This Country is going down the poop hole at a rapid pace. Unfortunately the worst may still come. When the dust settles there may be a lot of blood in the streets. Folks are out of control. There is too much misinformation on the internet and has many confused with reality. Remember that strange kid we all grew up with, the one that looked off but was harmless...well today that harmless kid has found a group of like minded individuals who have empowered each other into believing someone or some group is after them. The fear propaganda is on high gear. By the time all is set and done, regret will set in with many people but by that time the damage will have been done.

Didn't realize Denver's such a hotbed of passionate "kids".

Interesting.

hang in there matt, wishing you the best.

this is what's left of my family house in shaver lake, victim of the creek fire, the gnarliest i've seen in CA. many of my friends lost everything they have, the whole area is devastated. i'm thankful we "only" lost a family vacation home. this fire season is faqued.

pmax, what the hell you trollin' on about?

kookin' it, man...

Thanks guys. Thankfully the winds changed just before sundown. They had been blowing bad since about this time last night. One section ran 10 miles today, which is what prompted the aggressive evacuation schedule. It’s really unlikely it could make it here, and there’s not great fuel down here. It’s grassy instead of all that beetle kill fuel.

Hot Shots would be the call if you needed them, but you don't. I bet all those guys are out in CA. There may still be some in CO. Loverland sounds like a good location for wildfires, like my home town, NV side of the Sierras. No big snow, fires etc. High desert and close to the Mountains. Nice climate.

So Matt, if I ever pass that way through CO, am I still welcome, or is that out of the question? Just wondering....

dam marc, that's horrible. so sorry for the loss of the place.

smoke from the creek fire has made it's way back to me this AM after having not gotten much in the last week. had a couple windows open last night and woke to the smell of smoke and thought something was burning here. quickly looked at a few sites including a smoke tracker and it's the creek again. strange thing is there was suppose to be a northerly wind blowing that i thought would push the smoke the other way. pge has shut power off north of here, some bay area and santa cruz mtn locations due to the winds. red flag warning here currently. this shat is nerve wracking to say the least.

hope you guys have the insurance and energy to rebuild your place.

I did not know Colorado was dealing with the bark beetle too. That sucks. So much forest has been lost this year.

Here's a good article on it. It's been going on for about 20 years now. If you scroll down into the article, I live right in the middle of that largest red lump of infestation.

Give "The Social Dilemma" a look on Netflix. We're all being manipulated.
I've been saying it for years. Social media is evil.

No. It's a documentary/movie on Netflix. Makes you want to delete all your apps. and put down your phone. Explains a lot and relates to the Frontline show. I also watched the Frontline America Divided program because you mentioned it. That was really good also.

On a lighter note, My Octopus Teacher was a great true life tear-jerker, also on Netflix.

I don’t think social media is evil, just like I don’t think money is at the root of all evil. Individuals are to blame for what’s happening. Most can’t think for themselves, all they do is follow the masses. It’s just the way the brain works. It’s easy to just go along. The brain is like any other muscle and most don’t want to exercise it. Trying to understand a person, an action or a movement actually requires using the brain (exercising it). That’s why individuals can be successful at misinformation. One meme promoting your agenda will reach many who will choose to go on auto pilot and believe it because they are too brain lazy to search for the truth. I will go take a look at the documentary though.

At least you're smart enough to want to learn. Those documentaries opened my eyes. I knew "the media" was at fault for a lot of our societal woes, but I was blaming TV mostly and social media generally for giving everyone a voice they think is important. They're not.

You'll see most social media and the brains behind it started out with good intentions. What makes it evil is what it's morphed into and how it controls peoples realities and beliefs, pretty much beyond their control. The fact that we are constantly force fed BS we program the servers to feed us is how it goes awry.

And don't miss the Octopus thing. That was cool.

What’s going on in Denver ?

What’s the deal with the ‘kids’ in Denver ?

right, now that i think about it the one on frontline was about facebook specifically. same deal though in how it is becoming such an influence in negative ways.

i really enjoyed my octopus teacher too. teared up a couple times. thought it was pretty cool at the end when his son had the baby octopus in his hand and they suggested it was one of her offspring. agree with nick in that if you've not caught it yet do so cause it's an hour well spent.
