You like that line too I see. I wonder how many more times you’ll be reusing that one now.

Hmm...what does the p in pmax really stand for?

pmax - pathetic Max
OR
pmax - provocateur Max
OR
pmax - p.o.s. Max

They all fit.

No hard feelings Toby. I know you were offering way more than you should have for the bbq. Don’t feel bad for one minute.
I was just reminding you of the flaky nature of all of us. Not trying to stir shart. The few posts after are irrelevant.

A few cool Pelicans showed up. A few neighbors came over. Most that wanted to show were having fun elsewhere. Not upset with anyone.
Mark’s family, my son and I had a nice dinner together. It was a great weekend.
I know you were busy Matt. All good.

Next one I’m going to use some of my air miles to fly Raw out. I bet they will get you fukars to show!

That would be boss, Deez. And believe it or not, I can actually behave around youths (no foul mouth or kinky innuendo in proximity to anklebiters). :D

If you didn't notice, this thread was dead zed. Yet if you want to catch up on your reading, or if you missed the Real McCoy, it might be in context page 6-7. I don't recommend it. The Raw man might??!? The 88' I can't see, don't know what it isl
at all.

Sugardope has 3 of the top 7 threads in PPMF.
I wanna punch him in the face every time I notice that.

really we only have ourselves to blame. if the crew here would not reply and let them tumble in to obscurity he'd go elsewhere for his ADD fix.

punching him in the face is a great idea though....

The way I see it, if you want to solve this problem, get the moderators to change the name. MP forum to Porsche MP forum. This is catch 22 however. Many will be thrilled that we can't extrapolate on every car under the moon and it's value. Trolls will vanish in troves too! I was thinking that some of these trolls don't even have a 911 to be honest. Why else would they be trollin??

On the other hand, many will be sad that we can't be free to discuss other cars, or even compare them to the legendary 911. Perhaps the ultimate catch 22!

As per pmax vs Suarwood, I think they are worlds apart. While Sugar has creativity, designs threads that need no maintenance or attention, pmax simply digs dead threads out of the toilet i.e. a severe lack of creativity. Those two couldn't be comparable in the least. If they are trolls, then they will eventually be singled out and exterminated, just as roaches are - one by one or collectively.

Just realized the forum name is already PORSCHE MARKET PLACE FORUM (discussion).

Read it, remember it. I guess it's still a hard dilemma to negotiate/address? No wonder trolls can wander free and clear here -- no policy prerequisites. Any other ideas? I'm fresh out at the moment.

really seaniemax, what type of thrill do you feel when you bump one of these long lost threads? is it like a happy ending at the china shuttle, hitting a three to seal a pick up game, or is your life so empty i can't even begin to imagine what turns your crank in these matters??

now for something to log an hour with that's not a shifting video, not a cappy caveman video, or any other garbage ol seaniemax can dig up. i can search and bump old threads too max...

Make sure you bump this thread early and often.
Put a recurring event in your calendar right now.

I saw a G50 transmission making out with your sister behind a dumpster. True story.

Matt Monson 02-20-2020 04:52 PM

Anyone got a lead on a decent G50 core gearbox? One of my Aussie mates needs a new one.

And no G50 envy here.
I'll quote my old 915 post:

A correctly adjusted and serviced 915 is a perfectly good gearbox. It was in production for the better part of 2 decades. It is not defective. It was not recalled. It was not subject to lemon laws. Contrary to internet folklore, remarkably, it actually does shifts the gears. Go figure! Are you going to be shifting with lighting precision where every 1/10 second counts? No, you are not. If you were, you wouldn't be looking at a 30 year old car in the first place, and you'd be driving a modern car with triple the horsepower and PDK, like the pros. If you get a 915 and it's worn out or needing adjustment, just get that fixed. Reliability of the G50 vs 915? The bottom line is that if either gearbox needs service, you're looking at thousands to get it fixed.

If you can operate a clutch, you can drive a 915. Period. Sure, it might take a minute to adjust to the heavier pedal and looser throw, but it's just a gearbox, not some arcane medieval abacus contraption that people can't operate without an long apprenticeship and flight training. The internet anti-hype surrounding the 915 borders on ludicrous. I don't have to pause between gears when shifting my 915 gearbox. I just shift. I can also shift into 1st while rolling to a stop. Unless a pre-G50 tranny is defective or badly in need or service, anyone can drive it.

Here is a premise worth considering. Some buyers say they are used to a modern Honda gearbox, and that's why they prefer to find a G50. I'll suggest that the entire point of getting an air cooled 911 (and paying top dollar for the privilege) is to have a vintage "leather goggles" driving experience. No power steering. Suspension firmness opposite of "floaty sofa". Mechanical clutch. No nanny assist or stereo or DVD player or Navigation. An exhaust rumble. Even an oil dipstick! The very point of buying an old 911 is that it's nothing like your modern convenient Honda, and that it's different. In that regard, a 915 gearbox is more authentically vintage than a G50 anyway. The guy that wants a modern gearbox probably would not be happy in a 30 year old car in the first place, and might prefer a 997, right?

Well said.

Really, I guess it is perfectly good but could be far better IMO and many spend a fortune to improve them.

The 964's are 30 years and have a G50. I have owned numerous 901 and 915 tranny cars and have recently serviced and reworked some sloppy 915 linkages for people and although I have fond memories of the 915 and recall how to finesse them into gear after driving a G50 for these past 15 years could never go back to driving one for any length of time. Not a bad transmission and far better than the 901 but still sloppy and not very sporty IMO. Although the G50 isn't perfect either it still works far better in every aspect.

Matt Monson 02-28-2020 06:55 AM

Some day I’ll get around to making a new 915 gear kit. We can improve it substantially but until recent years just not enough $$$ in it to make it worthwhile.

Leh Keen just delivered his 25th rally build. There are plenty of people building &10k 915s these days.

pmax 02-28-2020 10:08 AM

Drop in modern synchro for the 915, that's what it needs.
