What should i ask?
I have a street legal 1974 911 track car with a 3.2 Carrera engine with performance chip. Six track days this year. Other than getting run over by everyone in my group, the car is good fun and reliable. Thinking about selling it and wondering what I should expect. The interior is stripped out and the exterior has a few rust spots (see example in picture. The car pulls good, sounds great and starts/runs reliably. Considering whether it is time to exit and if so, what should I expect in value to sell it timely? I also wonder if it would bring more as a roller and the engine separate. Thoughts are appreciated.

That engine is worth between $10,000 and $15,000 depending on millage and condition. the transmission is worth $2,000 -$3,500 in good condition.
a roller with rust problems is worth somewhere around $12,000-$18,000 depending on the day. as the car sits, I would value it somewhere between $20,000 and $27,000 that's just my two cents

Give us more specs and we can give you a better idea of what to expect.
Sell it whole as a racecar. You might get 18k You will get more if its a G50 car) parting it out Personally I wouldn't pay more than 8k for the roller because it's undoubtedly rusty where you can't see Holding it will not increase the value. GLWTS |

Thanks. 915 transmission, 993 brakes, Koni shocks, weltmiester sway bar, SSi's, BAT oil cool kit, K&N filter. Boge strutz
Had plenty of rust when I bought it in 2003. Spent money early replacing weak spots and recently replaced whole section underneath around a new fuel tank. Don't know engine mileage. Its a 1985 engine. Roll bar. 2,510 lbs empty. |

I'd say ask $23k, and take $19,500 for it. Don't waste your time parting it out. I cant think of a less desirable shell than a rusty 74-77. I think the engine is adding more value to the tub as a car, than you would net back parting it all out. Don't forget to value what your time is worth once you start turning wrenches.
If you had the stock brakes it might be worth putting them back on the car, and selling the big reds separately. I don't think big brakes are bringing much to the table on your car, but definitely have value separately. |

I bought a "rust free" 77 street car early last year, with sport seats, 915, and 3.2 for 26k$. There was some rust of course (galvanizing is no match for battery acid); less than shown on your car, probably way less than what is hiding under/ inside your car.
I wouldn't pay that again, maybe not even 20k$. Body work is expensive, messy, takes forever, even if someone else is doing it. Just a reference point for you. Sent from my Nokia 7.1 using Tapatalk |

This is an interesting car.
Thanks for posting. I wonder what kind of buyer will pick this up. Track or street.
