I have a couple of friends who bought GT4s at the end of last year. Ouch.
As for the classics, I'd be more concerned if ppl will still care about your old car or if mechanics can still fix them than the selling prices during covid. I think there are deals to be had from owners in the unfortunate situation of having to sell stuff (these are not assets) due to unemployment. If you own a classic you know this is not the time to sell your car. Humans always forecast long term "big" changes yet do not see short term events. As in forecasting that people will only buy flying cars in the next 3 years yet ignore mechanics availability or parts availability for these cars (just an example) |

I’m in the situation where selling my 76 turbo would make my life a lot easier right now.. but also driving my car is one of the few things i can do easily during the quarantine without feeling like the pleasure of my experience is deminshed. In fact it’s been improved by the lack of cars on the road.
It has really made me reconsider my interest in selling... four months ago it was a foregone conclusion. I think for people that love driving, the unique experience classic porsches provide will continue to buoy thier values especially the longer the quarantine lasts.. |

^^ Not only that but the more that cars become disconnected from the driving experience, there will be a few that seek out the experience that a new car is unable to provide.

Sugar I think you’re on to something.....
While others argue that collector cars will tank, I think the opposite will happen. Many who still have their jobs and are doing well financially may put their extra funds towards the purchase of a classic car rather than going out to dinner every week, vacations etc. Thus far the dire predictions made by many have not manifested.

I said this from day one of the virus. I saw prices stay firm at Amelia and by the time I got home I had been contacted by 3 people buying 964's who spent premium money to get a nice car to go and drive. It hasn't slowed and I know of a number of recent purchases that the owners are driving even though they can't get the car registered since our DMV is closed.
On the other hand I am looking at a 930 and 951 being sold by the same owner who needs to get out quick. Might be the opportunity to flip a few although I have looked at a number of 964's owners needing to get out of their cars asking far too much hoping to find someone willing to fix up the cars. These are just sitting. Nobody seems to want a project car unless it is dirt cheap but are willing to spend up for a needs nothing car so they can get out and drive. Just like the middle class in this country nice cars are rising in value and cars with needs are dropping with very little in between.

I like whiskeyliquorstore.com because they can ship everywhere, and they've hooked me up when I have to ship to my clients (some of which live in the middle of nowhere). Would love that $300 pappy 15 hook up! Lucky you!

This.
It's either top or bottom. I have been looking for a nice 86+ 911 for some time. They are either nice, high priced from a seller who could care less or someone looking to get out of a crappy car. There is no middle. Quote:

All the usual places. The challenge is finding a nice original car for a reasonable price. I am willing to pay a premium for the right car, but I am picky so...

Very likely no or much lower bonuses for execs this year. Most buyers use bonuses to buy big discretionary purchases such as sports cars.
That said, I had five unsolicited offers for my 1972 911 last week when it was getting a brake line replaced at a shop. I am considering selling but I tend to fall in love with my cars. I have owned my car 16 years and she still makes my day when I driver her.
