Have to agree, none of the cars I was familiar with in the 70's went much past 100k, most of the muscle cars didn't make it much past 60k. The oiling and fueling systems just were not that good. Porsche engines of that era were built better but longevity still depends on how well they are taken care of. Low mileage cars throw a red flag for me. Time does as much damage as wear and tear, they just look nicer. Every low mile car I've ever bought quickly fell apart when I started using them daily, needing all the maintenance caught to their age.

bringing this back on-topic:
Undecided, did you decide on the 930? (seriously, folks. Why? HTF does a question about a 930 turn into a hot debate about Pintos and alfas, AE86s and all-things-GM?)

Once again, you pretend to know but in actuality you know nothing about cars. Especially older cars. Which begs the question, how old are you? You and I exchanged a few pm’s awhile back. I asked a question about your 911 to which you never responded, which leads me to believe you don’t even own a Porsche because of your age. That’s ok there is nothing wrong with that but don’t be a troll, guys here have a wealth of knowledge but your constant trolling gets old.

It started when someone posted that they would never buy a 930 with 100k and no rebuild, to which I responded, what kind of steaming turd needs a rebuild at 100k?

I know that an engine that needs a rebuild at 100k is a steaming turd. Most car guys outside of Porsche would absolutely agree with me

Considering this 930, but...
I think it’s a good driver if you can get it in the $60’s. I doubt the guy will go below that.
If the suspension is original plan on replacing everything if you want a performance feel. The 930s feel more highway cruiser than tight carver when stock. The problem with the 930 is the part that makes it a 930. The turbo. The poor oil quality of the day and people not always following the cool down procedure would cause oil coaking. Those pieces would run through the engine due to Porsche’s crap design of not filtering the turbo oil after the turbo. It just dumps into the system. So sugar is partly right. Porsche effed up some of their designs. Doesn’t mean the car is shiiit. I put an Aeroquip inline stainless screen filter on my oil return line for good measure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

But, for those who measure a car's awesome-ness in mileage alone, there are wonderful examples to enjoy out there. I suggest a nice, beige, mid-2000s Camry or Accord (not that there's anything wrong with that!!). In that color, you don't even need to wash it. I hear they have a "sport" option...

Wow, haven't been back to this thread for a bit because I didn't see the email saying I had replies. I'll ignore all the BS and stay on topic. No decision on the 930. here is a pic inside the wheel well. Bergen is being very helpful. Going to send this picture to them.

Yeah, lots of BS...
Back on topic: Here's a pic of my car, in the same area. I have the Elephant Racing ASP, which is why the torsion bar area is different. The tube in your image suggests that the holes were meant to be used brake ducts. So maybe the fenders were modified to accommodate. Let me know if you need other shots from other angles / areas to compare. -Garen ![]()

Yes, the ducts were converted to brake cooling. I told the owner I need more pics and the price range I'm considering so as to not waste each other's time.

He's staying frim at $70K because of the AC system he just installed. I'm not spending any more time on this one. Thanks for all the feedback folks, we can all consider this thread closed! Have a great week!

Just junk under the car. Redoing the garage, so stuff is scattered around everywhere.

I'm the proud owner of the 930 that started all of these posts...some interesting posts, some posts from folks that don't really get the 930 passion. But hey its a free world. For the 930 purists - obviously this is not the car for you. There are always lots of comments about the mods on my 930, the 993 mirrors, turbo/inetercooler upgrades and those rockers. The rockers are frequently commented on. Let me just say they are different and they are functional. I believe for those that want to return this to the original rockers, I do not think it would be very difficult for a decent body shop. I'm selling the 930 to get into a water-cooled 911 with more modern creature comforts with the outstanding performance we all expect from Porsche. Bob
