Wondering about prices on 73Ts
I just sold my 69 Z28 RS Camaro, and my 69E 911 Sportomatic looks to be out the door shortly, so last night called a friend and offered him 11k just over for a 73T. He said he'll think about it. Am I getting lonely for another 911? The only car I've got left to go is the BTR RUF..
If I get it for that money I'll buy it, work on it and get it going. I know more about the 69- 73 E, S or RS, but never paid attention to the T too much though I had one 70T targa that my father wrecked in my absense. I got confirmation this car has carburators. I spent a brief 10 minutes with it looking it over almost 2 years ago, even posted pics here somewhere but don't remember where. I think it has a sunroof (but don't remember) and no rust in the body (well remembered). Engine original but needs some TLC on the body etc. mostly some paint. Mechanically it's been sitting for years under cover inside and dry. My question is more about 73T 911s. I know 73 is a good year. Wish it were an E or S, but could I go wrong if he takes my offer? Thanks for any 73T insights! bernie

Surely you jest? $11K for a longhood? You could easily quadruple that price and be ahead of the game.
A T is simply the bottom of the model range for that year. If there truly is no rust and the engine is original, you'll hit a home run. Getting it out of Japan is another matter but my God Bernie, people would kill for that kind of deal in the states.

I would assume you meant a Targa Top instead of the Sunroof you mentioned since it is not a Coupe but a Targa model. On another note, I have complete MFI system for a 2.4T. Everything you will ever need to take it back to original spec if it is a U.S. model and originally equipped with MFI. As a matter of fact, I had tested it today on our bench for a thorough inspection, testing and flow test at different RPM’s. Good luck on your endeavors to hopefully acquire the 73T.

I hope none of my 'friends' offer me $0.20 on the dollar for anything I own.

It isn't karma Matt, it's culture 101. Culture is learned. Generally someone wants to sell, they have a price. Buyer buys or negotiates. There are guys here for years and years who say how much do you want to pay if interest is expressed. If not in their selling price range they say you don't meet the price! That's it, nothing more. It's almost like a personal auction. Not so common nowadays with the internet, but old habits die hard.
When he showed me these cars, it was summer after the pandemic began. He was hurting and trying to sell me something. I told him I don't have a dime, trying to save 1.3 mil JPY to rebuild my BTR motor. We haven't spoken since until last week. This culture is based on informal relationships. It's not what you know, it's who you know! That is opposite to your culture on more formal relationships. Welcome to culture 101 M2!

There’s a difference between flippers and friends. Friends don’t rip off each other. That car is worth 2-3 times your “good faith” offer.

Says you! You don't know what your talking about. Does it matter what the car is worth? You don't know if I'm a flipper or not. You don't know what kind of relationship/friendship we have. So why be so busy at negotiating our deal, if it ever comes to that. Business is business. Don't question our friendship due to your narrow mind on culture. Moreover, don't paint me as a flipper. I don't have a history like that. I simply made an offer and that is perfectly fine on my understanding of the car and the seller.

You don’t want commentary on your deals? don’t make threads asking for input on your deals . It’s that simple.

The only ever thing I said was, could I go wrong at this price? I didn't ask for your horse sh-t accusations on my own thread, ignorant of culture or relationships. We have done bus. before. I bought my best early alloy dek lid from him 6 years ago? We know each other and have history. Don't tell me how to post on PPMPF.

Bernie, I speak only for myself. I posted in agreement with another, who felt you were really low on your offer. Yes, it was snarky tongue in cheek, playing on your silly posts about vw karma. And then you lost it, again, because you have an issue with me. You can hide my posts if you find me offensive.
