Looks like the 911 will be the last man standing
In the future Porsche line-up, the 911 will stand alone.

This story landed on the same day that Porsche's big cousin VW announced that the 2026 GTI will go electric. It's happening.
Could the 911 be the lone gasoline burning vehicle in the family, eventually? |

does this further enhance the " they don't make them any more" valuation. Air cooled cars continue to escalate followed by the water cooled cars?

Moving the Boxster/Cayman platform to all electric is absolute stupidity
They didn't learn their lesson from the 4-cyl Subaru engine disaster ? Box Electric = Bud Light level of stupidity |

Last man standing will be the human, who is alive when this planet burns. I don't have any hope for human kind myself due to the error of humanism. ICE cars are going out, so if you want to collect them good, but I would guess in 10 years time the market for them will drop into infamy IMHO. Exponentially, I believe one will find that the planet is pretty doomed with the population now, and it will not stop. Think about how much plastic you threw into the garbage today or yesterday. Multiply that by 8 billion people and growing. Nature will take revenge eventually. Time is alreay over, the way humans do their bidding.

Multiply that by 8 billion people and growing. Nature will take revenge eventually. Time is already over, the way humans do their bidding.
This is duplicate sorry, but I corrected a typo (already). Twice is fine since this message needs to sink in IMHO!

Just sayin Nick, the writing is already on the wall if you hadn't noticed. I'm not a shrink. I am reality (line from the movie UP in the AIR -- George Clooney).
Actually the line says -- I'm not a shrink, I'm a wake up call.. https://www.google.com/search?q=up+in+the+air+movie+scenes+youtube&rlz=1C 1QABZ_jaJP890JP890&ei=X3fHZJrzEKDV1e8P4O-PyAc&ved=0ahUKEwjanubpybiAAxWgavUHHeD3A3kQ4dUDCBE& uact=5&oq=up+in+the+air+movie+scenes+youtube&gs_lp =Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiInVwIGluIHRoZSBhaXIgbW92aWUgc 2NlbmVzIHlvdXR1YmUyBRAAGKIEMgUQABiiBDIFEAAYogRInRx Q3wdYjRNwAHgCkAEBmAGbAaABkA-qAQQxLjE2uAEDyAEA-AEBwgIEEAAYR-IDBBgAIEGIBgGQBgg&sclient=gws-wiz-serp#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:53067ecd,vid:8zE9D9xl7o0

nature doesn't take revenge, that is a purely human notion. nature will do what she do, ultimately. i'm sure she doesn't care too much about us, like fleas on a dog i reckon.
we humans are an egotistical lot. mother nature was here long before we were, and will still be long after we're gone. enjoy the ride, we're lucky to be here. or, doom and gloom if ya like, bernie...

I suspect the final chapter is not fully written. Humans are pretty resilient and doom and gloom is cyclical. With all of the nuclear weapons, the fact that we are still here is amazing in and of itself. Civilization has existed for only 6000 years since the evolution of humans. The industrial age really only in the past 200 years. Compare the technology, medical capability and trajectory of technology from when your parents were born until now. I suspect when our grandkids are our age the technology will be hard to distinguish from magic. Did you see the difference in the air quality change during the pandemic? I think the next 20 years is going to be amazing as battery technology explodes (hopefully not literally). The planet has been through countless mini ice ages, and hot periods, this will not be the last. Heck SAT here it was 107 + with heat index, SUN it was 20 degrees cooler and pleasant. I am an optimist. It is in the interest of the politicians and media to create crisis at every turn to be relevant. We will be fine.

Don’t conflate the weather with the climate, just saying.

This whole EV trend is likely going to backfire....When you don’t need fossil fuel to charge the EV, you might be on to something! Tim

That is exactly my point Matt. Climate is in constant change. I believe we can nudge it, and I believe the scientists, however the idea that if we do X, Y happens I do not believe. We would need to do A-Z to have any impact.

The horses are already out of the barn. It was 30 years ago that I was in college studying this stuff. If maybe back then we had made major efforts something would have changed, but who knows? The biggest problem is worldwide resource use. We (the US) are less than 5% the world population, and use more than 20% of the resources. The whole rest of the developing world is trying to emulate us, which means resource use and emissions will just continue to rise. I have no faith that technology will overcome this. We are just another animal mass producing to the point of habitat collapse. It’s unlikely everyone is going to die, but billions and billions of people are going to die premature deaths from starvation, disease, and environmental disaster. The writing it on the wall.

FWIW - US Greenhouse gas emissions are well below 1990 levels in the US, and continue to trend down - down 7% from 1990, 20% decrease since 2005. Peaked in 2008.
The focus should be on land use, and not paving everything under. Only 13% of emissions are offset by carbon sinks, would be higher if there was better forest management. I hear you, the layered effect on fisheries, wildlife, plant life and crop management had better be a focus. I hope the planet is more resilient than we give it credit for...

It’s not about emissions anymore. Now it’s about whether or not we will be able to feed ourselves.

FWIW - MOST of the developed countries are on a population decline, but agree with that assessment. Time to sell the ranchland in TX and buy a small farm property with water here in VA. Long game planning
