Urgent; value of excellent, 37-K mile '85 Carrera

Greetings all,
Well, I am considering the probably insane move of trading my mint, stock 49-K Estoril '96 M3 5-sp., which I love driving, on this:
http://i-5-motors.ebizautos.com/webdetail.aspx?iid=1458924

I saw it today--drove it, it drives very well apart from tired dampers. It's a non-sunroof car. It really is in quite superb condition. Is, say, $27K too much here?

On sidenote, also drove '03 Boxster S--swapped back and forth--and while great, fantastic even, it felt good to get back behind the wheel of the "relic". The whole thing just felt more substantial, real, honest, mechanical. And damn if one still can't get it to shuffle its feet quickly with some work!

For that kind of money, you can get a 1987-89 with comparable miles. I know of one for sale for 27k same color with 60k miles in pristine condition advertised on this BBS.

Looks like a nice car. Interiors really give away the car's cosmetic condition when you are looking at pics on the internet. This one looks pretty new yet. Hence the premium price (if the rest of the car is nice).

$27k is a lot for an '85. So, the car should be perfect cosmetically and mechanically at that price. It should have fresh shock for $27k...along with up to date service, decent records, good history and no major issues present or looming.

The non sunroof aspect should be worth something too... Hard to put a value on that, but there are people that really want non sunroof cars...

If you end up driving this car a bit, that premium that you are paying for low miles will errode quickly. Once the car has 60k on it, it maybe be hard to break the $20k mark if you need to resell it. That point may be mute if you keep it a long time.

I think you can even find G-50 3.2's with miles near 40-50k for this price....so, insure that you don't have to spend much money on this car in the short term.

Good Luck!
