Engine Value?
I'm going to look at an early 2.0 911 motor that a guy rebuilt 15 years ago and has been sitting in a garage since. I have it on good authority from my mechanic who sold him the parts that he is a good guy, knows Porche motors and the engine has good parts in it. It's in a project car than was never finished. It's a T motor with S P&C's and webers. Would need to have the seals renewed. Is it worth $4,000?

The price is not outrageous but the story is sketchy. I would have one of those mechanical aces in your area check it out before I purchased.

For a number of reasons, the 2.0 T engine is the least desireable of all the early motors. Small valves, mild cams, non counterweighted crank, Marrelli electrics, and so forth.
Not a bad engine, but very difficult to upgrade to anything better than the 110 hp it came with... ![]() So as long as you are aware of this going in, and understand that a rebuild of this engine will not be significantly less expensive than any other 2.0 to 2.4 six, then the price is okay.
