Early roller value (after I take some parts)?
Wanted to run something by y'all...
I've been considering backdating my '74 and recently found this car for sale locally: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=418597 I would only need the front fenders and hood (maybe the bumper, although I already have one that doesn't have a "lip"). So if I were to buy this car, take these parts off, then try to sell it again, any ideas on value? ..or.. If I were to buy that car and use the parts I need, do you think it has enough value in the parts individually to help recoup the costs of the car? I would not trash the chassis, just try to sell as many parts as possible then sell what's left as a whole (really, really cheap). Keep in mind, I'm not trying to make a profit on it, but I'd like to not "waste" $5k just for fenders and a hood. But if I can recover enough of the original purchase, it might be worth it, especially if it means my "backdate" would have a steel hood and fenders (which I feel safer with). Would love your thoughts! Cheers

Why not to buy what you need?
Car was listed first at July,2008. Now is Almost December. You take off : two fenders approx 400$/each hood , onother 100-200$ marker lights, head lights, some other little things.......and you have taken off the car at least 1500$. What is it worth after that ?! Maybe 1.5-2K + hustle to dissmantel+ your time+ posting all for sale+ packaging and shipping ...............and you have just another "project" to get rid off all left overs ........ There is nice 69 912 Roller on ebay in FL for 2.9K and it has bin transformed into RS. So you have RS bumper, fenders, lights, hood etc Just my 2c

Yeah, you're probably right. Being local, I was thinking about the "savings" of not having to buy parts everywhere and have them shipped to the house. (I recently bought two decklids for my car and paid almost as much in shipping as I did for the lids themselves.) But I guess you make up for that in trying to sell / ship parts. Although at least then someone else is paying for shipping.
Is that "all" that used fenders cost these days? I was thinking more. I know steel repros are around $1200.

I am not an expert on a prices, just that I've seen those parts go for that much.
Check this out on ebay. No affiliations. Item number: 130269170354

That's interesting.
Well I'm in no hurry, so maybe the local car will come down in price soon. ![]()
