price for a 74-89 911 with 3.6 conversion
Greeting;
How much are 74 to 89 911's with 3.6 motors bringing these days? I only saw one listed in "cars for sale" and it is not a great looking car. I guess I'm most interested in 74 - 77 cars...

A friend of mine is selling his conversion car:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/493216-sale-3-6-varioram-conversion-911-sc.html $23,300. I've driven this car, and it's an absolute blast - unreal power and handling.

Asking prices seem to be in the $20-25K range. Lots of work goes into such a conversion and typically, its more than just a motor swap, but you find cars with 17" wheels, big brakes, oil coolers, bodywork (rear flares) etc.
I have no idea how close that is with transaction prices and it seems because of the seller specific mods, it takes a while to find a buyer who will appreciate such a modified car. Case in point is the link in the post above.. car has been listed since August '09.

Dead-on. He's well aware of the difficulty of selling such a car, and he's not in a rush to sell it - it's not a financial decision, he wants into a 993. So he's opted to go the long-haul route and wait to find the right buyer who will pay what the car's worth, just like he did. That car has had all the other upgrades, not just the motor swap - cooling, tranny, brakes, etc.

This was a great deal:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/canada/478442-77-911-w-3-6-conversion-calgary.html The price was listed in Canadian funds too. I tried to buy this car from the owner who did all the work and he had 50k + into it. He was on the fence about selling but later sold it years later to the fellow from the above post..
