Thx much
I looked again at the engine bay photo of that 77. I did not see the 2nd (passenger side) lift strut/shock which we believe was a 77MY feature of m473. So I had reassessed my guess prior to hearing back from you.. I'm starting to think the original 77 C3 I viewed with a 2nd grill glass early whaletail ...also had it added. The m473 option on C3's factory installed seems to be pretty uncommon. Best Regards to you |

I've seen several cars now with "Carrera" badge on the glove box doors, both on 1975 and 1976 Carrera 2.7 as well as a 1977 Carrera 3.0. It looks like the rear engine lid badge. What's the story behind this? Was this a trend in the 70s and 80s to add this on? Two of the cars I saw it on were from Southern California so maybe it was a "thing" to do there?

The engine case on the brown '76 Carrera is not original. It is a restamped case, supposedly a Factory replacement. I don't think there is any proof of that though.

Last week on eBay it got to $15X,XXX which given the replacement case 1976model year and current market, IMO, is fully valued. I do know they were looking for $175,000ish and the car has been for sale for almost two years between its east coast and west coast offering.
Does anyone know what this car trade for? Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 1974 Orange

It bid to 150+ and they were looking fo more? I guess I sold 028 short. The orange car looks very good. Is it sold, or still for sale?

This one # 9114600947 is for sale in the UK at the moment. It was supplied as a tourist delivery through Kuwait and was originally Copper Brown Metallic.

I guess Kuwait would require AC. So it looks like orange is the 3rd color this car has worn.

Hello all, I'm the originator of this thread and have just re- registered as I had completely forgotten my previous details etc. What a shock I received to see this thread still going and creating such lively debate.
I look forward to being a more regular contributor, sharing some of the great cars I come across and one currently building. I also have a huge collection of old 911 parts that I'm in the process of cataloging and will be selling. Cheers. |
