71 911 S What Is The Value Range?
I AM INTERESTED IN OPINIONS OF THE VALUE OF MY 71 911 S. ABOUT 131K MILES
ORIGINAL MFI ENGINE AND TRANS OPEN DIF. CALIF. CAR NOT RUSTY OR WRECKED. NO SUN ROOF. THE CARPETS AND REAR OF THE INTERIOR ARE REMOVED AND GONE. PAINTED ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO, THE ORIGINAL COLOR WAS SILVER. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL MUFFLER AND SWAY BARS, NOW F&R CHARLIE BARS. I AM THINKING OF OFFERING IT FOR SALE THIS FALL. THANKS FOR ANY HELP. A "not rusty or wrecked" 2.2 S coupe should be worth $45K and up depending on a whole lot of details, but primarily paint quality. Were the door jambs painted? On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the paint? Was the trim damaged in the paint process?

Missing a lot exterior bits --- like the bumper, turn-signals, deco. Early 80s plate, funky speaker grill --- hope the dash is nicer, interior looks like its almost MiA, wheels, etc --- car'll need serious money/attention/fortitude to put back.
If the pans, outer rockers, gaps, and documentation (CoA, etc) check out? . . . ask $50k/take $40k. Ditch the 'Traps, dress it up with correct/stock wheels on fresh XZXs? Might add $5k. Make sure its running right --- MFI scares people. Then again, this is so NOT a hobby car. Provided all the big stuff checks out . . . you're Buyer will probably be a Pro, probably Off-shore. With 'done' cars bumping six-figures . . . this car'll get flipped --- probably as fast as the Buyer can get shop time somewhere. Wanna make some money? Fix the exterior trim, get the correct front bumper and wheels, add a presentable interior --- skip anything fancy, just read the CoA --- then? Flip it yourself! For another $10k, it's a $70-75k car. A very nice 2.2 s just sold in TX for 30k and it was nicer, more complete. Was offered on 2 known boards first at 39k then 33k.
There are not many good s cars for sale but I am sorry, do not see them as 75k cars right now unless super clean/original and even then they do change hands for 65k, just not out in the open. Clean it up and worth 40k I just don't think so, needs mechanicals,interior, paint, chrome, wheels and weather strip and still no sport seats? That is 40k right there. |

Just my .02 Bert Probably a very solid 30-mid thirties as is 40 and up with whatever corrections can reasonably be done.

Deduct 30%-50% . . . nicely. ![]() IMO, the values for a numbers-matching '70-'71 911S: 1) in pieces, condition 3- = $40-50k 2) intact, complete, and running, w/ MFI, condition 3+ = $70-75k 3) restored/condition 1-2 = ~$100k 4) original/unrestored/condition 2+ = lotto I wouldn't rely just on CL, Trader --- or Pelican, etc. Advertise in a publication that circulates in Europe. Or find a Broker. May take a bit more time to sell, but the 2.2s are special, Porsche's last hi-compression (pre-smog) motor, and --- after 40-years --- in short supply. HTH |
