Fuchs JX15 '68/'69 (deep six)
I think I posted this to the wrong forum (I don't have a price set, yet).
So, I'll go here as well. I have four 6X15 alloys off of a 66 1912 I bought in the late '80s. Long since sold the car, but kept the wheels in storage since. One nice condition, rash free, minor pitting, rock dings. Date 1/68. Ink-stamped numbers Two average condition, minor curb rash, minor pitting, rock dings. Both dated 3/68.Also ink-stamped numbers One good condition tiny rub rash, minor pitting. Raised numbers in the casting, fox logo. By the way, coming soon: 1966 911, about 70,000 miles, garaged/stored since new, original black paint/red interior, in inside A/C storage facility (military) for the last 10 years. Hit in 1994 (right rear, left front pushed into guard rail, made me cry). Engine rebuilt in 1995 by Sam Sipkins of Oakland, CA. Untouched since then. |

More help with those JX15 Fuchs
I've gotten private messages asking what I want for the wheels and only one suggesting a price (and that he'd be willing to pay it).
I kinda thought this forum was a way for me to discover what I should be asking. My intention was to then decide how much discount I want to give for a quick sale. I have been scouring the web and I found several WTBs for various Fuchs that specified matching date stamps. Since I have two 368s (March 1968), should I reserve them to sell as a set? I'm counting on you. These forums have a lot of knowledgeable contributors and I get the feeling that they are sort of "looking out" for us, the uninitiated---in other words, they'd fry me if I was out of line on the high side (or the wheels were bogus), but they'd also tell me not to take less than $XXX. |

Why not enquire over at the early s registry. I'm sure there is someone who wants / needs two date stamped Fuchs.

I sold a set of Al Reed refinished deep 6's last year for $2000. I probably sold them too cheap, but after the buyer got them, he decided he didn't like the polished finish, so he returned them with the tires he mounted (I paid for the tires and shipping both ways). At that point, I just wanted my money back, so I re-sold them for $2800 with the new tires installed. While it took a bit longer to sell them the second time, they still sold pretty quick. If you search the for sale section, I think that you will see the asking prices for deep 6 fuchs range from $400 - $700 each, depending on condition/finish, but even the $400 deep 6 in unrestored condition doesn't seem to be a quick seller these days.

I believe your 1/68 wheel is actually a 7/68. And i'd speak to Mr. Weidman next week before i sold any of your ink stamped wheels. They are most likely pretty uncommon. 5.5 x 15 versions had cast part numbers before that (I just checked some 2/68 5.5's). You can also tell those are early forgings of the 6 in. version from the rough markings in the casting. My guess is they would be correct for very early 1969 MY ...maybe some sold prior for race applications. |

It's definitely a "1." It's the European style. I've travelled in Germany, France and Switzerland. Drove me nuts when I first arrived. Their "7" is crossed when they hand-write it to avoid confusion. From a blog: Some unique characteristics of the German handwriting: - When writing the character “1″ you really emphasize the little flag part at the top, so that the “1″ looks almost like an upside down “V”. Look here to see both versions: 7 has horizontal stroke preceded by a small, vertical tick-mark; the "10" shows a normal European "1"---like my 168
