1969 911E pricing
Hi, I just picked up a 1969 911 E with no motor, original fuchs, pretty complete but with the usual rust. Any ideas on price?
Thanks, Mike 925-890-21654 |

What did you pay?
This is a confusing question. If you just picked it up you know the value you paid it.

Maybe its me, but I never liked the phrase, "the usual rust"? Rust comes in many forms and degrees and all early 911's have their own unique rust issues. |

Hi, the price I am looking for is the value of the car because I am going to sell it.

Well, we're going to need more details. Coupe or Targa? Where is the rust? How is it cosmetically?
Depending on this info, the value range is $2500-10000.

Now accepting US $ at par

$2500 might even be a stretch depending on how complete "pretty complete" is and the sizes/state of the Fuchs.
A very confusing thread - if you "just picked up" the car and you're looking to sell, were you not planning a flip? Nothing wrong with that but the first rule of a flip is "figure out what you can sell it for and make sure you pay less than that." ![]() If it's a matter of picking up a project car and deciding you'd rather be rid of it, similar considerations apply... obviously you must have thought there was value in the car at the price you bought it at, why not start a bit above that and leave some negotiation room? You're not sitting on a gold mine by any means... Cheers and GLWS. d.

More info needed....
What color combo? How bad is the rust? Was it ever wrecked/clear title? Flood issues?
How many items are missing (original trans included? Interior?) Too many unknowns at play here - if it was a basket case Ferrari 250 GT SWB alloy body that was uncovered in a barn with no motor, sure that's big money. Best case - great color combo (say slate grey/red leather) with minimal rust and no wreck history and good options (sport seats, LSD), easily $10k - $15k. You might get lucky, most E's were nicely optioned. Worst case - branded title/tweaked chassis, chassis rot extreme, red with black vinyl, many parts gone, maybe $2k - $3k.... For a baseline, a nicely restored '69 tangerine/black 911E is advertised in HMN for $39k. I think tangerine is a slight plus for a paint color. Unless you complete much restoration work yourself, it is not cheap. IMO, a cheap "quick sell" restoration will not sell well either - most collectors shun shoddy work and will pass. Oh, and subtract 10-15% for an incorrect engine and a targa is generally worth slightly less than a coupe. |
