What is an incomplete RSR project worth?
Have reached a point where I just don't know when i'm going to get the time and extra $$ to finish this and my race car needing a few $K in repairs is just putting it further back on the burner. 1980 SC base, professionally installed rear 930 steel flares, fiberglass 930 front flares with steel headlight buckets, new TRE longnose hood (had lip reinforced), and front and rear FG widebody bumpers. All ER Polybronze and monoball (rear trailing and front shock tower) bushings, front PB (not installed yet) and rear PB (installed), Bilstein Sport shocks, lowered RSR front spindles, twin plugged 3.2SS engine that Dan Jacobs leaked for me (all under 6%), B&B SS headers w/heat, NEW PMO EFI ITB's, new fuel tank (Shutzed in light grey), new OEM through the tunnel fuel lines, new MSII control system (not installed yet) with all sensors and wiring harness (including relay box). Electromotive 6 coil ignition system (installed and set up for when it ran 46mm Weber carbs). Body has 0 rust, bodywork 90% done and in primer. Engine compartment stripped and epoxy primered/primered/painted with single stage Signal Green. Needs wheels/tires, interior, paint, installation of the MS system, and all the odds and ends to finish.

Just posted some more pictures over on the Technical forum as I got no response here. If it becomes a serious thing I will gladly take a ton of up to date pictures..

303 views and one comment? C'mon Pelicans, you won't hurt my feelings (well, you might but that's ok).. There are a few more detailed pics over on the tech forum link but I would be glad to answer any questions or post specific pictures if that helps.

911 RSR project...
I'm working on a mild backdate SS myself, man it can get expensive - I feel your pain.
It looks like a very nice start, but the market is limited for a signal green (I like the color) RSR project in pieces. Many of the buyers ($$ to buy) for an example like this want a complete ready to go ride. Many of the "hobby" 911 guys who would like it, can't afford it. That said, before you abandon the project, try to find someone who would like it to bankroll the completion. If that does not work, I'd say a part out to maximize your funds - it will take more time/effort, but will maximize funds. The whole project will be "easier," but will probably pull in less $$ unless you find the right buyer (it depends on how quick you want the money). Engine, with documents a rebuilt 3.0 SS with the PMO induction, maybe $8k -$10k Transmission: rebuilt with LSD, maybe $3k SC modified tub with flares: $3k+? TRE hood: $500.00 Fenders: $500.00 Bumpers: $500.00 That's a start, you have many extras, just add up the rough market values. Most people will want a discount for NIB parts from an individual. As a complete project car, $18k low to $25k+, you have lots of nice parts and time/effort into the chassis. It would be easay to drop another $10k+ to complete this and the market is limited for a RSR replica in a specific color. Good Luck, if I had a pile of cash I'd be interested in the engine... |

Thanks for the input. Keep in mind all that is painted is the engine compartment, this car's color can be changed to any preference pretty easily at this point.

An incomplete project is like offering leftovers still on your plate. . . . There is someone in America who's interested, but finding that person isn't so easy and so the price is often adjusted downwards to attract more people. This is very unfortunate for the seller and doesn't really make the buyer any 'happier'--it just allows him to make more modifications to finish the project to his liking.
Valuation? It's similiar to a company that is losing money, who wants to buy (or own) a company that is losing money? Again, it takes a special person to see value and want to turn it around. . . .. .. |

Gary:
For what it's worth, the market for RSR is in many cases for "completed/finished" cars. I know you have a ton of time and money already into this very cool project. But my feeling it's an $18,000-$20,000 dollar car in todays market to a guy looking for an RSR project>and a deal. If a guy offered you $18,000 cash would you take it; or are you looking (my guess) more in the $25,000 dollar range where I think your into the car. In hand money or looking for the right guy who want it is the question. Hope you find a good home for it, ![]() art agrimmitt@pelican. |

Art - I'm a realist, so I wouldn't expect to get anything near what I have invested to date. I honestly believe $20K (which equates to a solid $10K+ loss to me) is a great deal for a person that has the same vision as I do and the finances to follow through. For about $35K total it could be done right, and to put it in perspective I thought nothing of spending $45K+ to make it my dream ride... and most likely will! Won't kill me to take this year off from racing, though it feels like it will...

G,
I am far from an expert...there. You are in a no win position. Is this a track car? A street car? With the engine I don't think one could even register it here in California considering the year of the body. I don't know how many states are as strict as ours, therefore reducing potential customers. I reckon I would just sit on it cuz it is going to be neat looking. What is more important? The answer is..............there is no answer. |

Designed for both street and track Cal44, I would have used it for the occasional DE in place of putting hours on my race car.. No problem with emissions in most states, CA is another story.

It's a great platform for a really excellent RSR Street/Track car. Take a year off, crew & pit for other guys; and work on it little by little. Finished it's a $45,000 car; CA smog is an issue every two years, we deal with it and move on! Finish your car and then come to California and run Targa California with 125 ![]() art agrimmitt@pelican |

Thank you all for your input, I have placed it on the FS forum so everything is in one place as I had discussions going in a few different forums.
