I know the topic was beaten to death in the we need a 930 stock forum thread. Stock is bad....modded is good...
I wonder if it'll ever get to a point where we're sourcing correct air injection systems and stock exhaust and Correct color cloth covered vacuum lines. Porsche and OEM suppliers reproducing all out of production parts. Looking forward to the wacky ride.... |

IMO as time moves forward you will have those who will search for the most original part..including the air injection system..as that(originality) will probably give you the best return for your investment(if I can call it that). Modded 930's may be a taboo as far as "investment" is concerned but the truth is even a real Vin# Ruf(though he has mfr status) is still a modified Porsche...because without Porsche there is no Ruf. Yet a Ruf will command a hefty sum above almost any Porsche. The problem I see with most modded cars is the unknowns of the modifications that scare possible buyers. For a decent return on a modded 930's..keeping a list of all documentation of the modifications/conversions can prove to be effective, using reputable parts, keeping your exterior and interior as close to period correctness and using a builder who is extremely knowledgeable and respected in his field is a huge plus(though some DIY guys fit this build as well)..this IMO will help a modded 930 on resale. |
Agreed. Enjoy both sides of the stock/modded mix.
A great platform to improve upon with upgrades and modern tech. And also such a significant car historically, from a street and motorsports perspective that keeping "as factory delivered" examples for future generation enjoyment(and then they can mod them haaa) is important. Great.....I think I need two of them now... |
I agree with the above and would also add that a lot depends on the intended use.
If the buyer is purchasing with the intention of flipping the car (which so many buyers these days seem to be doing) down the road and it will see very limited use, then maybe stock is better for them. We all know that they run better without the old smog equipment, although not having that may be an issue in some states. However, if the buyer is planning on using and really enjoying the car, then the modded 930 may be the better deal depending upon of course the intended use, and how extensive the mods performed. Simple exhaust mods in my opinion should not really hurt value when the improvement in drivability is factored in. Personally, when I bought my 930 years ago, I specifically sought a modded car to offset the cost of upgrades that I knew I would want, of course knowing full well that I would possibly add more. Nothing that would be unreliable, and nothing that would really put me in a holding pattern should I ever have an issue while on the road. You see, I really like to drive my cars further than the local cars and coffee on Sundays… and the 930 is a great road car! If time permits, I’m looking to head up to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, and down to Petit Le Mans this year. Anyone care to meet-up? |

Nice 930. It will be smashing when recommissioned. Rare, just one mirror, what a great color and everything. I wish!!! forget it. Very tempting. Who do not get it will regret, I'm sure.

Funny, my GR 2/87 build was the clone to that car that just sold. Notice I said 'was' lol. Had 39k on it and was boneass stock when I'd gotten it 7yrs ago. Sport seats & LSD and all. No 17s or lowered like that car tho. So yeah mayyyybe I should have kept it as was, and had a $75k underperforming worrisome car today... that I couldn't enjoy. Naaaaaaaa! Drive the doors off it, make it 'right' w/ particular appointments, and laugh all the way home. Worth less / performs better / no worries about a chip here or there, now pushing 60(WOT)k 8-) |
Cool color.............

white sport seats w/blk piping... too cool. betting the seller's not quite up to speed on what they've got there will be an interesting sale to see this comment made me cringe a bit: "This is a car for restoration or for parts" yargh! P7s are literally disintegrating... crykie. What a shameful waste to let a car sit and wither away like that... sigh... |

I wonder how much restoration money that car would need to bring it from a #4 car to a #2? The oddball color combo will bring big dollars but that car is also quite a mess and needs almost everything. Is that viper green? |
In 2012, I looked at a car just like that, same yr, similar color and worse or as bad condition. The guy wanted 17k, I thought he was nuts. Now who was nuts?????
|
Pricing for that green one is insane. It needs one of everything. I just dont get it, at all.
My car has oxidized paint, but is very low miles and nearly perfect otherwise. I put its value right about where that car is. |
That car is a total project , would not have been worth 20 k last year . It will be interesting to see how the auction plays out .
|
Its an interesting car and should be on ebay.de, ebay.uk. or ebay.jp
