I don't know if you frequent Rennlist much but one of the guys there just sold his 1975 Turbo Carrera.......how much did he ask?.......$175k..yes sir..$175k...it lasted how long you say?...a few days. While ours may not be as rare, as I was reminded everything rises with the tides. So not too shocking to see prices going north.

When I sold my 94 3.6T in 08(dumbarse I was) I sold it for $61k(with 33k miles). That car today would be worth 6 figures...5 years later.

1987 930

Paid $15K for mine in 2011 and prolly have 4x that in it now, but have yet to see anything in that price range that would replace it in my garage:phttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1388075183.jpg

Trying to not sound like a whiner, but I've been a lurker for some time now and every time I've saved enough to finally afford my dream car, the market price has risen beyond my budget. Even "Teener" prices have gone north on me. I've even looked at classic beetle prices going thru the roof.....but my first love affair will always be a 930....

This is a great thread - keep this going!

Not yet a sale but I would call this notable.

1976 1 owner with 47k miles for $169000!

Someday when all the 70's early turbos are in showrooms, stolen, wrecked, or otherwise dismantled to where they're unobtanium, then the 85-89 models will be going for 6 figures. Some of us can only hope....by then I'll need the extra cash to make up for when social security goes broke. Until then, you guys keep buying and selling...keep the value up where it belongs! (and oh...keep paying into SS for me).

Also notable is the one on Ebay that 77 sold for 80k,

It had quite a few mods, so that is quite a Big thing

Everyone says how the factory cars get more bucks,
looks like if its matching numbers the mods dont really matter as long as theyre not intrusive?

Im going to have to insure mine i think as its a bit worrying, i want to drive it everyday and if they go really high then they become more of a target not good.

So much for adding a second one to my garage. At those prices, I'm hunting a 993tt...

I'd buy a 993TT ASAP if I had the money. Those cars are awesome and will be expensive someday. Wouldn't trade it for my 930 though. :)

Mark, the 86-89 are already going up and up in price. The car you could buy last yr for 40 is now at 50, two yrs those cars will be 75k+, mods and all.

So much to say, but I'll keep my comments to myself on this one.

Is the car being misrepresented? If the car has a bad history prospective buyers need to know at figure being asked.

JFairman 12-31-2013 11:13 AM

Take the 9 out of the price and thats more like it for that one...

No bad history ( other than not all original paint once the mirrors are removed ) and it is not being misrepresented to my knowledge.

Yes, it seems like the tail might be wagging the dog in some of the prices for certain 930 cars lately.

voitureltd 01-01-2014 07:52 AM

Well, after seeing the latest Hagerty valuations I may have spoken too soon.

matsuzaka 01-23-2014 07:56 AM

Regarding the Hagerty Valuation, I looked on there couple of months ago at my 86 930 and their "average value" was $39k, I looked couple of days ago and it had gone up to $58k!!

I called my insurance company and they said that an agreed value of over $60k was possible on my car.
