Exactly... I turned into my dad. Maybe if he would of had some crazy price the story would be different. I'm a slut.

I don't get used to it. I hate it. I even got stopped while driving.

I hate soccer moms in SUVs changing lanes without signalling while talking on their cell phones. But I've gotten used to it. In fact it doesn't even phase me anymore.

If I got pissed off at every little thing in life I'd be angry all the time.

Have a nice day. SmileWavy

ps. You drive a slantnose cabriolet. Picked the wrong car if you don't want attention.

I bow to your superior sense of humor. But there should be a comma in front of 'so'. ;)

Certainly,,,,,,,,,,,,, I meant no racial disparity. If you look at my intro post you'll realize what a true "secretary" 911 is.

Only comment I've recieved was from an old man in Vernon Texas. He was likely addled due to +100F degree temps... I sure was.

When people ask, (and they do) "wanna sell the car"?, say just sold it this morn, crazy guy offered 1500. Cash money so I'm on the way to pick up the cash right now. It's fun to see the look on their face. If a real buyer wanted to talk, its the best opener for talks. Most people will be talking about the 1500. Porsche for the rest of their lives...way 2 fun...

Picked up a couple great deals by asking... why wouldn't you?

OMG! That is sooo hilarious. .. .I think I'll have to start doing that. . . .

Vintagecarlover,
You have a wonderful, if slightly cruel, vintage sense of humor!

Joshy Robots 11-12-2013 09:52 AM

welp, it happened again. 2 notes in 2 weeks of owning the car. maybe I should get this thing off the street.

Years ago, I had restored a '57 Chevy Nomad, turquoise/white... restoration was a total horror show with flakey paint and body guys, an upholsterer who drove the car into the wall of his shop (after the body and paint was done), etc. Lots of money and blood in that restoration.

I was driving on the Hollywood freeway next to one of those RV couples. The wife leaned out the window and yelled: hey, wanna sell that car?! I said: maybe. She said "I'll give you fifty bucks for it!"

Years before, when I moved to LA, I was driving my '65 GTO convertible and a guy drove up and asked if I wanted to sell. I named a price and he scraped it all together over the next week. Guy did drums for Toto, so you know how long ago that was...

Never hurts to ask. But going on private property to slap a note on a car is over the line. It tells me the shopper has no respect for property and could just as easily come back and key the car if he doesn't like your attitude/answer.

I think the "as-is" is a bit of a tip-off as to how much of an offer you might expect...

wannaporsche 11-12-2013 02:40 PM

Any chance you'd be willing to post a pic of your car? I'm getting note envy...

sure, but that's the fun part, it's pretty rough.

like a said in my initial post, I think it speaks to how few early 911s there are left in need of restoration. leave one out on the street and buzzards start to swarm.

I had two guys follow me into my parking garage last fall. I thought that they also parked their car in the garage. As soon as I stepped out of the car, both guys stepped out, started walking toward me and asked if I wanted to sell my car. I asked if they had a spot in the parking garage, and they said no. They simply followed me in. I told them I wasn't interested in selling at this time, and that they should leave. When they drove up the exit ramp to get out they realized they couldn't. They needed the garage door key to do that. ;)
Of course, they had to turnaround and ask me to help them out...

I think you'd be smart to not park a longhood on the street. The next guy might not leave a note.

The unrestored cars are a target for the dreamers, clueless and the flippers. If you make that car a good driver and drive it expect much more of this.

Not so sure. Because the car looks rough, people think they can pick it up for $1500. Once you make it nice there will be far fewer dreamers who think they can get it for a song.

Cheers
