'87 coupe value

I have a nice driver Carrera. Silver over wine. 132,xxx. I've had it for about 9 years. It was repainted when I bought it. They did a fairly nice job ( looks like windows out, no over spray) there are a few imperfections, but nothing major. The car has never been in an accident, or rebuilt. Interior I'd very nice given the age. Seats are great no cracks in the dash. The headliner is puckered a little ( I'm assuming when they painted). The door cards were cut for speakers, but that's all. New tires Fuchs 7's, and 8's. Prototipo wheel, Steve Wong chip. I also have some spares for a future rebuild, twin plug distributed, 993 heater boxes, 964 cams. I want 28,000. Is that a fair price?

Too bad you are not in CA, I'd give you that, no problem. Exactly what I've been looking for.

I think you should ask 32 to 34 personally.

I think 28 is fair, once you eclipse the 100 k mark you will take a bit of a hit. Unfortunately the purists won't like some of the upgrades. I think 27-30 is reasonable. Good luck with the sale, Tim

Thanks for the input. It's value makes me question whether to sell now or keep it and wait. I've had a 911 in the garage since 1986. If I do sell it will be missed. Nothing else compares.

that sounds like reason enough to keep it and drive it!

I'm of the belief that G50s are going to be unobtanium in the next decade. I base this belief on nothing other than hope.

I guess one way of looking at it is if you had $28,000 laying around would you buy a nice DD 911 to have in your garage.

IMO, the ask number should be $37k, and take no less than $33k.

The mods are tasteful, and mostly invisible. There is really no difference between a 130k-mile car and a 90k-mile car. The first hit comes at 150k, and the next one at 200k.

If you want an extra couple of grand, get that headliner fixed. Stuff like that can chase folks off, because if the car is in otherwise stellar shape, then the headliner is the "sore thumb". Let's look at it in two ways:

1.) You want to get it ready for sale. You clean the whole thing within an inch of it's life. When the buyer sees it, the only thing they see as a negative is the headliner. Already the negotiation wheels are turning. If you get the headliner fixed, the room for negotiation is limited.

2.) You're going to keep it. The car is in otherwise stellar shape, but that damn headliner is p|ss|ng you off. So you get it fixed so you don't have to look at it any more.

My personal advice to you is to keep the car. If you really need that $33k, sell. But if you don't really need the cash, start driving the car. It was built for driving, not sitting in your garage. You do enjoy driving it, right? Don't deprive yourself of that simple pleasure.

Ask $35k and expect to sell around $32k, assuming a PPI finds no surprises. Though in this market buyer might not wait for a PPI.

I think you'd be leaving a lot on the table at 28k. Big fuchs, new tires, the rebuild parts, interesting color. If I were a buyer I'd only be concerned with the paint, but a visual inspection is the only way to tell.

If you just want cash in hand no BS, advertise at 28k firm and get your deposit within 12 hours. If you are willing to answer the phone for a while and want 5-10k more, I'd be willing to bet its there for the taking.

I really want to see your car as it's exactly what I wanted when I bought mine (red interior, 7 and 8s, Prototipo). Do you have any pics?

At $28K it would likely sell in 5 minutes or less, no PPI, no haggling, and several backups at the price.

I agree that it is at least a low- to mid-30s car as it sits.

I owned one almost exactly like that before my daughter was born and I am still kicking myself for selling it when I did (especially since I'm now in the market). I reasoned that I wouldn't have any time for it when I made the call to sell. I was wrong, I almost certainly could have kept it and now I'm looking for its equal at many more dollars than what I bought and sold it for.

You don't want to be a cautionary tale like I am. Just my two cents.
