$130K 1983 SC? Explain this!

I know SC prices are on the rise, but what is so special about this car? The 930 can-can red seats?? Maybe a 3.1? Is this just someone &^%ing with eBay?

Porsche 911 SC Coupe 2 Door | eBay

Or search for 1983 911.

That's just gotta be someone BS'ing e-bay. If it's real, I'm selling mine tomorrow for the knock-off price of $75K. . . Yeah.

What's puzzling is that there are 48 bids on it from multiple bidders--not the normal thing of setting a too-high "buy it now" price.

Hope you enjoyed the -38°C this a.m., Puddy (or whatever it was in Oshawa this a.m.)

There's a thread on that one over on Rennlist. They figured out that it's a scam listing but ebay didn't do anything despite being notified so they're all just bidding it up to mess with the seller...

Apparently there's a thread here too...

Thanks--that makes sense, and it's pretty funny. Hope it does hit $1M.

Fleabay doesn't care, so bidders have decided to play back at the scammers.

Here is the original ad where car did 27K:

The car is now listed by a seller with a feedback of (2) and the previous seller was a different seller. This doesn't pass the sniff test...........smells like a scam ola!

Hell yeah it's a scam. This is what the author of the other thread here about it wrote:

"Do not bid on this car. These pix were taken in my driveway last Fall. The car was sold and resides in a good guy's garage. Communicated with him earlier and the car is still in his possession and not for sale. Reported it to eBay and hope they bust him. What a piece of *****"

The original ebay listing where it sold for 27K was from a very well known & respected P car shop in CT.

Not a scam people.

001 of the 83 SC owned by Ferry himself. Pictures of him and the car are plenty amongst the Porsche core. I would not be surprised if Porsche AG bought this piece back.

I had a similar thing happen to me many years ago. It caused me to never post pictures of my cars (or pretty much anything else) on the Internet.

I had posted pictures of my Ferrari on a Ferrari BBS. I ended up getting nervous about it and took them down after a day or so.

My gut instinct to take the pictures down proved to be correct, but I didn't act quickly enough. During the time they were up, one of the more well known and respected "regulars" on the board apparently saved the pictures to his hard drive.

6 months later, I see an ad by him selling his car (he had the same model that looked very similar), and he's using my pictures!

What was incredible to me was after I PM'd him and politely asked him to not use my pictures, he refused to stop.

It was like living in Bizarro World, he actually tried to convince me that the pictures that I personally took, of my own car, sitting in my own driveway, were not actually my pictures!

It freaked me out a bit, but it proved to be a valuable Internet lesson.

I have seen that done too. Two vehicles just a few weeks apart in different states with the Same photos, including background. Amazing.

I think I've seen ads for this same car many times over the past two years. Prices all over the place. Think I last saw it for mid 20s.

It's when you see the palm trees behind the 911 being advertised in Buffalo....
