Value and Interest in my 1982 SC
I have some other needs coming up and want to pass this on to it's next keeper.
With pricing all over the place, I present this for your consideration to estimate interest and value. I am NOT in a hurry to sell, but watch this space in the future. 1982 911SC - Grand Prix White - Black Interior - Sunroof Less than 90,000 original miles - I am the 4th owner of this car and I have had it for almost 14 years now. Car originally from North Carolina. I have contacted all previous owners. Two binders of receipts going back to 1986 I think. This car was on the local PCA judged concours circuit and placed first in class for 5 years in a row - I have retired myself and the car from the judged events for the last 5 or 6 years now. Exact dates available. All the upgrades have been done - clutch, pop-off, tensioners, head studs, new timing chains, ramps etc. All at Porsche-centric repair shops. Car is lowered from stock height. The original owner added a tail to this car damaging the engine lid in process. I have replaced the tail with another lid, painted to match the rest of the car. Another minor shopping cart incident on the right rear wheel arch spurred another repair - Other than those two items, I would estimate this cars paint to be 90%+ original. Michelin tires and Fuchs wheels are in great shape. Original factory wheel locks - two sets of keys and H4 headlight upgrade. Interior is black leather seats with the normal wear that would be found in a car this age - They really look good. Dash is perfect and free of ANY CRACKS. Black headliner, carpets in great shape. Seatbelt re-tractors could use some love. Does not have the original radio but a very nice Alpine AM/FM cassette, Alpine 6-disc changer, 200 Watt Amp, and ADS speakers x 4. Tool kit, compressor, jack, jack pad, spare, spare blocker, owners manual, owners manual cover, even the Kleen Hands plastic gloves are here. Car cover, sheep skin seat covers, two piece bra and flag mirror bras. - Box of parts included. This car really does not need much. I plan on another fluid change and check up before it leaves my care. Information presented to the best of my memory here at the office. Let me know if there is some other area I need to detail out. Some photos below - if it works. Thanks for looking and let me know what you think! ![]() ![]()

Id say it'll sell for between $27-30k. Its a pretty crappy time to sell a car like this too, if you want to maximize your sale, sell it in early spring.

A white driver quality SC with 150,000 miles just sold on BAT for 29.5K. This is a nicer car..... I agree with waiting till spring, but I would be in the high 30's possibly low 40's for this car.
Just one guy's opinion. |

I should have mentioned that I am not under any pressure to sell this time of year. I agree with a springtime placement for sale. That will give me time to devise a marketing plan.

maybe post some interior and engine pics? I was about to mention the sold SC on bringatrailer today but Nachtfalter beat me to it. That one had 154K on it. I agree from what you are showing here that yours is indeed a much nicer car.
here is that link if you want to compare- BaT I think the low 40s is certainly reasonable for yours. Of course all of this really does indeed just depend on the right buyer at the right time. You could always post it up there with a very high reserve (only you can see the reserve) and see what the world thinks of it. Only problem is all the jackals on there commentating for sport can be pretty brutal.

Yes but the jackals typically take a no holds barred approach and if taken correctly, can be taken as constructive criticism. While low forties may be a possibility I think you're probably looking at mid to upper 30s to be a little more realistic. Its not easy to get into the 40's for an SC

I've seen this car in person at local shows. It is a real looker and I believe being described accurately. I think it's worth $35k all day long. It's way nicer than that BaT car. The BaT car had the cool interior color going for it, but the interior needed to be restored.

If it's as good as advertised, it's a $40k car or better, even at this time of the year, and even with that red decal which personally I dislike very much. $27k is absurd. At that price you get tired targas with a few stories.

You know I like targas!
![]() But you also know that the market does price them lower, misguided as that view may be...

Targas have been less desirable then coupes for a long long time. While there will always be people who prefer targas, they are in the minority and always will be. The Targa roll-bar breaks up the beautiful lines of the 911 body in my personal opinion.

However, targas have lower production numbers I'm pretty sure. Making them more valuable.

This is a nice car. Everything is already done. Local Concours participant, owned by a PCA member who knows his stuff...and it's a coupe with relatively low miles in a very marketable color combo. This kind of stuff ticks all the boxes.
I actually disagree with the Spring time ad placement. I watched the market very closely this year and the (asking) prices seemed to peak very late Spring and then Summer. This car will sell quickly. At least $35K. I'd list it at $39.5 and bet it sells close to that.

Because of all the upgrades and first place awards- and you are not in a hurry to sell- you could start advertising at $45,000./make offer, much like a dealer would.
Advertise it on e-bay, craigslist, maybe even in Excellence, Panorama, perhaps Hemmings Motor News, maybe BAT, Rennlist, Sports Car Market magazine, & of course, Pelican cars for sale- just put it out there for all to see. Have some fun selling it, you know? It is a very attractive SC, and after months of advertising you will start to get actual offers near your asking price. It is a very desirable 911 and worth holding out for top dollar. Agreed, lots of photos of interior, engine, underside, and exterior are necessary. Targa vs. Coupe?
All, The Pelican board has been very helpful to me on many occasions. Helped diagnose an alternator problem. Introduced me to Grady who came over and helped me out when he was around. Fellow Pelicans answered many silly questions that I have had over the years. Found a buyer for the tail that was on the car. I am on many forums for other interests that I have and I gotta say this is one of the best out there. I have learned a ton here. However and no offense anyone- can we please take the Targa vs. Coupe discussion to another thread? This line of discussion is not helping me in my quest.
