I can try, but require assistance.

I love this site!! It for the LOVE of cars and keeping our Babies running properly! Despite our differences in Brands, I enjoy the Posts and some of your techniques have helped me a lot with repairing and upkeep of mine!

Got interested when I was fixing CDI boxes for fellow Montreal Owners, something we share in our cars. The information on this site was awesome and I've repaired over 10 units. Like the CDI setup, so I actually installed these units in both my 75's, the Race Car loves this addition!!

Hope you don't KICK me out, cause I'm an ALFA Basket Case!
PEACE!
Happy New Year!!

Always admired the Montreals engine design.

Think if I owned one it'd be a 5am on Sunday drive car.

Kudos on the Alfas and the triple post too....

I like driving mine, but I do see the hesitation. I bought mine for a daily-driver kind of price and ended up with a car now worth new Audi money. Sure, it's insured for that, but replacing it would not be simple. I could see that if I owned a '72 I wouldn't want to just drive it around and park it among the Camrys at the local supermarket, where I might have done such a thing ten years ago. Probably if I owned a '72 worth $150k, I'd sell it and buy a middie, an SC, a G50 car, a 964 and a 993.

Alfas *do* rule. Yeah, a Montreal is not a car you drive every day, considering how few came to North America, and how few of those are left. It's not about you and your driving, but all the brain-dead morons out there who can't put down their cell phones for the seconds required to avoid killing your car at an intersection. Back when I had Alfas, my '73 GTV was just a cool car I drove around every day. I picked it up for way less than $5k, and was happy as a clam to be driving Italian. These days, a car in that condition could get me a nice SC. Hell, way back when, I had a chance to buy a a roundtail SZ for short money, that needed an engine rebuild but was in otherwise good shape. Those cars are now museum cars.

My car is far from stock, I think stock is boring. So I don't feel to bad about any stone chips or holes I have to drill while working on my baby. Myself and a couple of Porsche buddies have found ourselves in the situation where we've got a really good deal on our Porsches, and could possibly flip them to make some money, but we all love our cars for Our own various reasons and if we were to sell them, there's nothing on the market that could compare to our cars for more than twice what we paid. So we drive our awesome dream cars and enjoy them to the fullest.

I worry more about the car when it's parked than I do when I'm driving it. When I'm driving, it lulls me into involved excitement. All 5 senses are in play (well 4 anyway), and I'm loving it.

When it's parked I'm worried someone will hit it or it won't be there when I get back. Is it the money? I'd have to say that's part of it, but it's the love of that particular car itself that is irreplaceable.

My favorite was this Alfetta, it made my wife drive fast.

Please don't KICK ME Off Wayne!!
Hence my dilemma? It's my 2nd Prize of my Collection. Spider is 1st, it's me 1st ALFA 32 years I owned it!! 911's are also becoming a rare item, but there were a lot more produced than the Montreal.
STOCK??? puddy you're correct the 3 starting on the left 2nd car have major upgrades. I'm a "sno" member!
Come on down to the museum and I'll take out me Race Car and we'll go for a ride! You'll be hurting!! Not allowed in CA! Trying to get in for 2017, ALFA Convention, 50 years of the ALFA Montreal, Worlds Fair!
I do admire the Porsche brand, but I like the less desirable models. 914 and 944's

I drive all 6 of them, and even though some are as rare as a Dodo Bird. They are cars and should be driven.

Went to the ALFA National convention this year, and I couldn't decide which car to bring, so I brought them all. I was the 1st to ever do this! It was my 1st Convention and I wanted to show my fellow Alfistis, that I am a Basket CASE!!

That, ficke, and also making the point that these cars are just machines (they're not unicorns, or mermaids with perfect boobs and a tireless desire to do ones' bidding).

Speaking of kink!

Matt, wutz the horsepower bump when running a 50/50 mix of e85 and unicorn milk in a turbocharged 911 engine?

I have thoughts on the actual topic which I will share when I'm next at an actual keyboard.

The best way to keep a Porsche in top shape is to drive it.

First pic in thread is nice. Early 911S is a super cool car.

That's not a valid comparison. The skill level of these track drivers is in a different league than your average texting, mouth-breathing moron who shares the road with your 911.

Every time I've decided NOT to take out the classic 911 for a drive, it's for fear of OTHER drivers, not my own driving abilities.
