912E Offer Received, NEED ADVICE!

I need advice on 912E Values and should I accept the offer''' its just below 15K in it's current incompleted state... work done and runs and drives.

Are you trying to sell it? If it's just surprising to get unsolicited offers you'll have to get used to it. I get those sort of offers about 1 in 20 times I go out into public with my 912E.

15k is on the low end for 912Es these days. If you want to sell you should probably take it to maaco for the $299 special.

Take the money. It's a fair offer considering the condition of the car. Looks like a project.

I second this. Even though you got the rocker work done, etc I don't know how well it's going to hold up, and from your photos it looks like you put rust inhibitor paint over the 'insulation' or undercoating of the floor pan (a sort of tar) and not the pan itself.

I don't know what you paid but if you sell and save some more $$$ you could probably get a SC in a year or so that has no rust and may be a more fulfilling project.

Either way most of these cars need work. $15K is a solid number and I'd probably do it. It would buy an early Cayman too.

Thanks for the reply, you are right... it is a project but all that is left is some body rust remediation and paint.

I think when it's done, which will be by the end of the summer I hope, I can get the fall to drive it again and then move on from there as in keep it and enjoy or upgrade to something else as the value should rise on the way.

The compound is a rust inhibitor brushed on the bare floors after wire brushing and a good sweep of some surface rust.

Good point that the proceeds would go towards a SC but not interested in a Cayman.

I only have some body rust issues and a good paint job to go so I will complete it soon and enjoy... watch the value rise and see about an upgrade!

Yes, unsolicited offers have been coming as its been sitting at our shop and a fact of life.

I only have a little more to do and will enjoy it as the value rises and we will see about a move up.

Sounds like you have a good plan. I really like to see old Porsches fixed up and enjoyed. And since you already started on this one, it makes sense to keep on going with it. Just remember, even nice driver quality 912E cars stall out price-wise at $20k-ish.
