RSA Accident what is it worth

I have a RS-America Midnight Blue all four options 51,000 miles Excellent condition

I was hit by another car and the estimate to fix is $17,000. Work done by a very good garage. All damage is limited to drivers door and front fender and driver's side rocker . No other damaged panels . Car to be fixed with new Porsche parts.

Here is my question:

Do I fix the car and sell it right away or wait a year or soto sell. I would not want someone to think it is going to fall apart.

I would not consider selling the car with out disclosing the accident.

How much does the accident reduce the currant

I have turned down $130,000. about a year ago. What do you think it wil lbe worth

I think it depends on where you take it, If the car is done right and is not salvaged (which i doubt) then when finished u could probably get what you ask for.Just make sure they dont two tone your car.

Get Diminished Value from his insurance company. Google it.

You may need fight to get it, but hire a mediator or lawyer or however it works for a DV claim, and you'll probably get a nice fat check above and beyond the repair for the value lost by your collector car being hit by the guy who hit you.

Good luck!

As many have been discussing here and elsewhere the big values are for pristine , undamaged, well maintained and documented cars (i.e. What you had) there is a precipitous drop in value once it is touched, even a respray, (maybe 25%) and if a salvage buyback/title/repair I'd say you'd be lucky to get 50% of the high value AFTER it its correctly repaired.

I would definitely push hard on the other drivers insurance company about diminished value.

Yet you have it listed for sale and didn't disclose anything about it having 17k in accident damage.

Plenty of RSA's on the market at high prices, or better yet prices from the top of the market a year or more ago that aren't selling. Now there is a permanent record on the internet of this car having been damaged. I guess that means you're either going to disclose the damage or hope a buyer doesn't do much DD on the car?

In your for sale listing:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/963844-sale-rs-america.html

You list the car as having "power stearing" ????

I guess you meant to list "Power Steering" but I wonder, given the fact that an RSA does not have Power Steering. I might be wrong, given I am not exactly sure what "power stearing" is, as it pertains to a car??

Cut from your car for sale posting:

"Asking $100,000.
Navy blue aka midnight blue
black interior
65k miles
has all four options::
Air
sunrooff
lsd
radio
car also has:
Cup exhaust stainless
wong chip
power stearing
lowered
new tires 225-45-17 and 265-40-17 mich.

That ad doesn't say much...

Weird way to sell a car. No pictures and hardly any details on a 6 figure ask car. I'm sure his PM box is full

Might be a different car..........

OP says 51k miles here, but ad says 65k miles. Maybe twin cars??? Or did OP put 14,000 miles on in 6 months?

Should have taken the $130K - immediately. Sorry but life is a *****.

Car will never bring the same. If you're thinking $130K - $17K = $113 it's not going to happen. Why? 1) It's not a year ago, and 2) It's now got stories.

You'd be lucky at $65K now.

I'm not the guy restoring a salvage one. I was just a contributor to the conversation. Porscher is the guy you're referring to.

Again, the RSA that is not a lightweight, but a lightweight:

"has all four options::
Air
sunrooff
lsd
radio."

Hilarious. Again, what's the point? Porsche NA considered Americans suckers long after the peddled us the '74/'75 Carrera and many, many others.

The RSA fits that less is more Porsche ethos. It was actually priced lower than the Carrera 2 so it was a deal IMO for the suckers who bought them at that time.

Are you sure? I understood it was priced higher than the C2 with the bigger equipment load....

I recall they were hard for the dealers to sell if not equipped with sunroof, a/c and radio.
