1992 964 Turbo at Mecum
I was following this 1992 964 turbo at Mecum (links below). I recently bought a very similar one and was curious about what the auction car would go for. It appears that it went through the auction twice. Wednesday no sale - $110k and Sunday - no sale $135k.
Isn't it unusual for a car to go through the same auction twice? I always thought that if they didn't meet reserve they go into "The Bid Goes On..." thing. Did anyone see the car and can comment on its condition etc. The price guides numbers on these cars seem high to me and I am not sure they are really selling for those numbers. What have you guys seen with the market lately? Hagerty #4 $90k, #3 $142k, #2 $210k, #1 $275k Excellence Mag - $80k Avg, $120k Good, $160k Exc Sports Car Collector - $135k Median NADA $127.6k Low, $215.6 Avg, $269.9 High https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0117-268706/1992-porsche-911-turbo/ https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0117-279041/1992-porsche-911-turbo/ |

"Factory chrome Fuchs wheels included"
..can't imagine what Mecum or the seller were thinking with that descriptor other than that they were simply not thinking when they included that statement in the sportscar's description. And I'm surrendering to the multi-millionaires who must be the ones buying the rare or low-production number Porsches and turning them into museum or concours exhibits if they haven't been converted already. There's hardly anything fun about walking the grounds of a concours and seeing cars that I've already seen for years in person or in magazines. And the thought of visiting a silent museum to do the same makes me wonder if an actual funeral wouldn't be more exciting ! ..Touring Porsche-pilot I'll remain _________________________________________ Carrots, Oats, Apples, Sugarcubes, and 93+ Octane |

Aftermarket wheels, radio, exhaust is hurting the price. I think $135k is all the money for that example without seeing it in person. |

I agree.... $135 is all the money given the mods. You're paying a premium for the miles but you're getting it back because top make it a true collector piece you'd need to spend the money to make it stock.
I have seen Mecum re-run cars on a number of occasions.
