1975 914 1.8, 64k original

I have found a one-owner 1975 914 1.8, in very long term garage storage. Silver with black interior, 64k original miles. Completely original with 1 repaint in the original silver. Has complete A/C system, intact. Last driven regularly in 1995, was "revived" (tank drained/filled, battery replaced new tires) briefly in 2005. Small dent in forward part of right rear quarter panel.
Fuel injection is intact, even has '70's CB radio under dash (good buddy).
Value as-is? Value running/driving?
Thanks, Dan

Dan I'm sure you already know rust is the determining factor on these old 914s
That said, it could bring as much as 18k if you were to wait for the right buyer.
If it needs rust repairs (most do) way less. Running, driving but rusty 3-6k
No rust (rare) not running 5-8k.

Wide range I know but no pictures and limited information!

Just my $.02 worth

Good point. She has a touch of surface rust at the rear of the pass. compartment floor. That's ALL the rust. She was sold new in Greenville, SC and has been garaged her whole life. Dash has NO cracks.
I was able to purchase the car yesterday afternoon. I intend to clean/sand the rusted areas later today, and then etch them with dilute phosphoric acid. Let that kill and seal the rust, then paint with POR 15.

Well, that's usually never ALL THE RUST. Check the longitudinals out very carefully and you have to pull the outer rocker panels.

POR-15 sucks. I can't tell you how many times I tell people this. If you want to get rid of the rust, get rid of the rust and be done with it. If POR-15 really worked, a large corporation such as Rustoleum would have already come out with something. Every time I used it in the past (and yes, I prepped very seriously) - it always strings off or flakes like the cheap vinyl type coating it is after a time. POR-15 is a scam. Get rid of the rust and know there is nothing to cover over.

Pics would be nice on this thread though.

my question...... why would a low mileage car need a re-paint?

Re Paint

I have had excellent results with POR 15, as I always remove all rust and etch with phosphoric. I have never had any lifting, and still have cars that I treated over 10 years ago.
The car is silver, which has a bad history of going "flat", which the repaint is starting to do as well. In the mid 1970's, BMW had a silver called "Polaris". Then they had "Polaris Neu".
That was followed by "Polaris Neu Neu". Maybe there was a problem with that color?
