For what it's worth I just paid high 20s for a 1968 912 numbers matching original owner hard window targa. It was used as a daily driver, plenty or wear and tear. One repaint original color because it was in an accident 25 plus years ago. 10k since engine rebuild. I'm about to put 5k into , bushings, interior .... Some say I over paid , others think I paid fair , some say I got a steal. It has some rust , came with folders of documentation dating back to original bill of sale. i wanted a 912 hard window targa and paid what I could afford. Sounds like your car is similar except a coupe and engine work. Find the right buyer and it will sell. Low 20s sounds fair from my recent experience.

Notice the 3.3L Turbo torque output compared to any other car on Phatt's list - that's wut I call a real azz whoopin', boyz (and in neutered, stock trim, none the less - way more torque when simple mods are done). Getcha' suummmm!!!!

See, the 912 is such blast and sounds like **** to boot.

Nope, I got an actual quote from a top shop, which in fact was higher than $20k, but I rounded it down thinking you can probably get a similar job done for cheaper.

Yes a perfect repaint will be $20k but can get an ok job for $5k. Yes turbos are way faster but 912's are way more fun to drive. I have both and various 911's and my 68 912 is by my fav car of them all. The OP car sounds like a high teen car.

That is 100% dependent on how one defines fun. I've driven plenty of slow, sporty cars (such as Opel GTs and 914s - never driven a 912 though), and twittering around in a nimble lil' buzz box is something I no longer consider fun (it was fun until I discovered horsepower, then the fun of those type machines disappeared). Plenty of folks like that type of motoring, though, and there's nothing wrong with that (***forum snorkling***), but to me it is much more fun to operate a machine with biggish power and acceleration, even when it is difficult to safely, and legally, use all that speed.

I was just teasing. You can spend 6 figures on paint and body for the right job but it needs to be the right car.

Thanks for all the comments. The car has sentimental value ... lots of it. So likely not selling unless in a crunch. I just picked up my 88 911 from Pat Williams in Memphis on Saturday who did an engine rebuild, Euro spec and did the AC so it really works. Straight thru from Memphis to Macon and ran like a champ. Big big difference from the motor with about 250k on it to this. Damn sweet! Has cat by pass.
