That project is a joke. Buy the Dan Jacobs car, drive it for a year while you clean it up and sell it for a profit. That’s what a flipper would do. This guy is no flipper. He has no killer instinct.

Maybe he needs to read "Flipping 911- The Ins and Outs of Flipping Porsche"

I'm getting lazy with this desk job.

side note: few weekends ago I drove an s2000 home 14.5 hours straght almost 1k miles I tohught I was going to stop but ended up going all the way. The first hour the soft top ripped open since the previous owner didn't know how to fix a cut up top so that was interesting. With 911's there is alot more scheming going on so I'm little more careful.

Those rich dudes who get the new P cars super early like to flip them but I head Porsche is cracking down on that. Any car I bought and sold later for profit I had to put my hands on and fix stuff. Maybe one day when deals are too good to pass up ill throw money around.

Someone posts a well maintained SC sold by a top notch shop for $25k
"No thanks Targa"

Someone posts a burnt out carcass for $14k,
and he gets all excited, and wants to follow that up ???!?

Some people are born to make stupid decisions.
I'm out. Seems like a lost cause who is beyond help.

^^^ If the guy doesn't like Targa's you shouldn't get all upset Sugar. It's like asking me to buy a Prius. Not gonna happen.
Have a cup of coffee and relax.

I appreciate the help but I said it earlier I hope people don't get upset cuz everyone wants me to get a 914... a 944T... a 997 but I am good on all those.

A non rotted coupe that doesn't have a 993 fiberglass front end/ugly kit car

I find targas all day from 20-25k. I'll get one some day but coupe is what I'm looking for.

The burn front end that I can get a lot less than a targa I don't really want interests me more. See this listing below I talked to this guy before and he will make a fair deal for the entire front end..

https://cleveland.craigslist.org/pts/d/1985-porsche-911-body-parts/6504983299.html

Don't want to upset people but the only way I'd buy a targa or cab right now is to flip it to make money to afford a nice coupe, and don't get me started on how much people hate flippers on here LOL

If i see a targa for 10-15k locally and get a chance to buy it, I will but will be still on the hunt for a coupe. Spending close to my budget on targa, thanks but you guys can have the great deal.

Matt Monson 03-15-2018 07:32 AM

You have much to learn, grasshopper. This is how my car looked when I started:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436117626.jpg

Pull off that whole front end and guess what? Stock parts bolted right on in their place. I would take a 993 fiberglass kit over a burned up front end any day of the week.

SalParadise 03-15-2018 07:54 AM

Heat does very strange things to sheet metal structures. It's not just like that you'd sand down all the affected areas until clean and paint. That metal becomes brittle. I wouldn't take that risk over a known $25K Targa from a known shop. That Targa is a very fair deal to someone. I look at it and wished I saved my money. Even though my '75S was a fair deal in 2012, it's going to cost more than that $25K Targa to get to where that one is.

Yea that's true, I can always unbolt. But comparing the targa little different.

Also, usually the 993 kit is all the works include rear end etc.

All depends on the price.

If its ridiculously under market of course I'll hop on it if I can get to it on time.

Think it's a better idea to just keep an eye on the thread and if any suggestions come I'll inquire the seller about them but won't speak my mind since seems to get me in more heat lol

Rather just post in here that I got one already in my driveway and then deal with the heat :D

.

I don't see a lot of Targas in the 20-25K range anymore.

Those parts in Cleveland are way over priced. $500 each per fender? What are you going to do, put red front end parts on a red burned coupe and have mis-matching reds going down the road? I wish these cars were like Legos too - but that's not how it works.

Yep, warps and weakens.

I kinda agree with your assessment of wanting a Coupe.
Friend of my is struggling with buying a 911T for $66,000 he is a first time buyer.
I told him a SC or Carrera would be better because if for some reason no longer want the 911T is too much .

But Targa for $20-25 are hard to find now....a good Coupe is $30-35 and never really found god coupes lately.
The burned coupe to me I’d find, new front and then paint, paint is so good it can be matched

it would be cheaper to buy a good one than fix a car with that much fire damage.

everything in the frunk is likely toast. fuse block, fuel tank, wire harness, fan assembly, etc.

THEN you get to address all of the steel issues, of which there will be many. you ain't just slapping a new set of fenders on that sucker and hitting the road...

then you're not throwing your money around.

you're just not serious about buying a 911. this isn't the s2000 market.

not sure how you could snub your nose at a targa like the one i linked when we've seen some of the absolute POS cars you've considered.

that's one of the most obvious deals i've seen in awhile, perfect car to get into the game...

I saw that car within minutes of Dan posting it and had to give it a serious thought. My rusty targa runs and drives just fine, but that car is a deal. I considered dumping my targa at a loss to BHCC or someone similar and grabbing it. But I'm too lazy for that sort of juggling.
