As the old saying goes ' deals to good to be true usually are not'

ficke 02-09-2018 09:43 AM

The least expensive 911 you will buy will be about 30,000. All these deals will be well over 30K when you have a driver you want to live with.

Matt Monson 02-09-2018 09:45 AM

I figured if the car was real and in Prescott, Ficke already dragged it home.

I know scams VERY well and have had fun with them my whole life dealing in car business.

Even after the super terribly cropped pics, terrible quality, i still was giving him a chance.

Told him to call me and he did, this was the first big mistake.

- I asked for his name at the end of the call "What was your name again?"
- He stuttered and almost said a name starting with an Ahh sound then hurry and switched the subject asking what my name is very quickly and asking If I was the same person who called before and Im like ummm My name is mario and nope this is first time...
- Oh okay, my name is jeremy......

hahah IDIOT

Whoever is interested I can post all the pics he sent me along with this one he sent claiming to be him.

"his" pics below

I respectfully disagree.

These cars rusted while you looked at them and this one looks to be a mess. Certainly not a project for a first timer, or someone who wants a 911 for 20K. Wasn't there a thread on a similar 66, 3 gauge 912 recently? Is this the same one?

I wouldn't waste my time or money, especially if the seller seems sketchy. I think you'd be heading down a very long and expensive road, and would blow your budget just on body work.

I love 912's but they're not 911's.

(Found the other thread) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-marketplace-discussion/985527-opinion-value-66-912-a.html

Most of them are rusted, but in AZ I have seen a lot of original batt. tray nice no rust SWB 911/912's and I have bought a few and they look like that in pictures.
But you have to see them in person to really know what you are getting.
I am really apprehensive of 'Deals' on CL and the internet in general.

Might shoot him a text, if I do for some reason buy it I'd send you a couple dolla fasho.

Financially you are way better off setting you budget to $30k and vetting cars/owners properly without the stress of rushing to pick up a $20k bargain beater. $30k gets you a good 76-83 911 or 912.

And all 911s will need work so you always have a project whether it's a $20k car or a $50k car.

Yup you got that right.

The more I work the more my 911 budget will grow.

Looks like I might as well slip into the bottom barrel 930 game next... lol jk

Itza,
Why is your budget $20k?

Matt Dillon 02-12-2018 05:31 AM

This car is gorgeous. A lot of car for the money...

It's alright you must have missed them.

I was getting that turd and the (nicer) turd 77 for $2500 so was more of a take some parts and sell deal anyway.

He sold that rust pile alone for over 3k. Made sure to text me about it a few days later.

The budget is anything south of $25k realistically.

The only reason I want to stay around $20k is becuase I missed out on several for $18-$20k.

There is a local one that won't have a Porsche heart in it that I might pick up for less than 10k but it will be a decent project. We shall see.

Don't knock targas- I know they aren't as visually appealing as a coupe- but my 75 with webbers sounds so good with the roof off.

Otter74 02-14-2018 12:00 PM

Read this thread, thought of what I paid for my Targa in 2015, was glad I bought it! Good luck to the OP.

I like the targas, especially after owning a few s2000's.

Almost bought one off someone here but he ended up finishing the build.

But looking for a coupe for now.

There is a 77S 'Hot Rod' that I am checking out as soon as seller gives me the word.

Let's play this game again guys? See below.

DESCRIPTION as follows:

" Have a nice running driving 1977 911S hotrod available that has had many mods done to it including a 2.7 RS spec motor with only about 21,000 on the motor. Car has PMO 40 carbs, web cams, 964 oil pump, msd box and coil, pertronix with recurved distributor, clewette wires, 17" euromeister wheels, under hood strut bar, SSI heat exchangers, M&K 2 in 2 out exhaust with one side that is capped to eliminate drone euro rear bumperetts, euro headlights, working sunroof, wevo 5 speed shifter and 2 tone red and black interior, recarro sport seats, momo steering wheel, nicely done rear fender flares, real porsche rear tea tray and nice factory owners manual with warrenty book and maroon cover . Car has a slight grind in second gear unless you take an extra second to shift but has been like this for quite awhile but I do have a rebuilt transaxle for extra $. Car could use some front end work like rubber bushings and maybe front bilstein strut inserts and motor does leak a little bit of oil like a lot of them do but the car is a good running and driving 911 "

Asking $28,000 and I am sure he is pretty firm but who knows maybe cash will change his mind a bit.. sitting outside with a cover over rocks..

What do you guys think besides checking the pans, asking how much mileage is actually on the car, checking for rot and asking for a PPI
