It does seem like a good one...but as we are rolling into winter here in Chicago I'm in no rush. May regret that later but Porsche prices have softened lately and winter prices are usually a little softer as well.

The 993 is great but not without its shortcomings like every model. If you decide a 993 look for one with upgrades such as suspension, shifter, exhaust, etc. It would be nice to have had the top end done too. A short ratio gearbox would be great but hard to find. Airbags and ABS are nice modern features with this model.
Yes, every new model is a better car technically. I've owned a 993 and would still have an earlier 911 someday.

As I've said, the 993 is a much better car. The 993 is what the 964 should have been. If Porsche had more money, time, and resources, the 964 would have been the 993, and the 993 would have even been better than what we know the 993 to be.

But the '90s were not kind to Porsche - at all. It made them re-think their business and manufacturing plan and that's why we got the 996 and Boxster, which aren't that bad and as most know, saved the company. They went to a Japanese production model and the rest is history. Due to regulations, both US and Euro, the 996 was inevitable. It just would have been a much more exciting car if they had done things differently without all the sharing, cost-cutting and the like, and had the money to do so.

Part of it was paying for the 959 mistake. The c4 benefited some from that project but not enough to offset development costs.

Does that statement come with the Gibbler guarantee?

A nice documented 95 drivers condition Coupe just popped on BAT.

I'm watching that one to see what it sells for. The one listed here looks much cleaner. The BaT car has a lot of paint work and interior wear in comparison.

Mission accomplished.

Just bought a 1995 C2 M/T RWD w/ LSD and nicely optioned. Polar silver black leather interior 47K miles! Didn't intend to buy such a nice/clean example but was too good to pass up.

AND....the Audi Q5 that I got to replace my 997 C4S was lemon-lawed 11 months after I got it. Talk about a mistake...should have kept the 997!

At 47k mi that lsd will be shot. Get it rebuilt next time you have the gearbox oil changed. Otherwise congratulations

Carrera 4 - 20,395
I am not sure where these numbers come from but in actuality there were only a total of 26,764 964 coupes produced world wide. This includes both C2 & C4 both tip and manual. Although these numbers do not include the US spec RSA, ROW RS or any of the turbo or WB variants. These fall into a different category.

All 89's are C4's with a total of 3,065 for 89. 1,057 US spec.

If you separate out the US spec coupes there were only 5,107 coupes imported to the US both C2&C4 both tip and manual. Again this does not include the RSA or WB variants.

There were a lot of changes between the years and the later 92 on up MY cars are considered more desirable There were 655 Coupes for 92, 460 made for 1993 and 129 imported for 1994.

There is a lot of misleading info regarding production numbers Adrian's book which most people use double count C2's and C4's along with starting the vin numbers at 001 when they actually start at 061 per MY.

When you consider the number of 964's that were tracked destroyed and cutup for singers and parts cars it leaves very few in the US a far cry from the number of 993's which were not used extensively in the way the 964 was.
