I don't get the 356 market either. Some years and models are worth 5 times more than others.
The coupes all look the same to me.

A couple of things.
1. Wrong color and a non-Porsche color choice 2. No engine number picture and it's not mentioned if it's the original engine, it's listed on the COA as Matching Numbers but people want to see the engine. 3. The blue paint does not photograph well in direct sunlight, it's very hard to see the gaps of the car Basically it you want $50,000 or over for a coupe it has to be nice, like very nice, and you have to leave no questions. This car does not present well, nor are all the questions answered. Don't get me wrong, it's probably a nice car and a good driver that would make someone very happy, but it's not presented well, which is why it probably isn't selling. Anyone who is serious about spending this amount of money on a coupe wants to know that it is matching numbers and they have to factor in at least $10,000+ to re-paint the whole car, meaning glass out, gauges out, all new rubber, etc. So they have to ask, is this a $70,000 car? Not being able to see the body not in direct sunlight and not knowing if it's matching means it isn't, it could be, but the ad doesn't say. ---Adam

Besides all the reasons listed above, I really dislike descriptions that are a sales advertisement for the business itself and do nothing to describe the product at all. People want to buy from people that understand what they are selling. The seller looks like he will sell you a car, pair of shoes or Furniture. Makes no difference to him.

In the first photo, is that an exhaust pipe on the drivers side? - Looks like an old VW aftermarket muffler with side pipe. Just guessing but VW motor?

It has a Porsche 616 (356/912) engine. That tailpipe is from an aftermarket exhaust. Likely a Bursch header/muffler set up. There are also "clones" of that exhaust system as well.

Everything about that ad screams "rope you in to view the car in person with grainy/bad pictures then get hard sold on a subpar vehicle that will immediately leave you disappointed."

This has been on CL many times here in SoCal. But as ya'll mention.......something isn't right. The upside is, take it under florescent lights and the dark color will bring out ripple in the pond.
Ads that tell histories of everything but the car drive my crazier. Ever notice the ads that explain Ferry Porsches life history then a couple of lines about the car. Usually from dealers.........."shifty eyes and bad shoes"

Come on guys... It's only $49,750.00 for a running and driving classic Porsche.
Some people spend more than that on incomplete body work ![]() ![]()

Ask yourself"Who takes pictures that are out of focus and puts them in an ad?" You can almost read the COA. Seats are redone and flat as boards. Color not even close to Porsche. Obviously hoping to sell to someone who doesn't look at it in person. Or have a good PPI done. Someone who will then complain on this board that not as advertised. +1 on Adam's comment that if it was worth the price it would be sold. Lots of 356ers in LA area.
