Price check on aisle 1974

I'm contemplating putting my '74 up for sale this spring. The 964 is just getting more drive time and attention, and the '74 is just too nice to play second fiddle. Wondering what the collective here thinks it might be worth on the open market.

• 1974 Porsche 911
• Black with blue/black interior. Paint is original.
• Non-sunroof
• 88K miles on chassis
• Had a motor swap prior to my ownership, and now has an '85 3.2 complete with Italian Webers. Approx. 45K miles on the engine.
• Original Fuchs wheels
• Factory a/c
• Wevo shifter

The good:
The car is pretty much original. I've added a few things (Wevo shifter, Momo wheel, strut tower brace, some Rennline bits) but I have all OEM take-off parts. Interior is close to perfect; driver seat has a very faint almost-tear. The car has been maintained by one of the top air-cooled shops in the country for the last 25+ years, and they did the motor swap. It has seen rain ONCE in the last 30 years (the day I bought it).

The not-so-good:
Hood has a few paint nicks from 40+ years of driving. Original black paint is bit thin in a few places. Rear seats need to be re-stuffed. Stereo doesn't work (but who cares).

This girl is fun to drive. Starts right up, and pulls like a train. Wouldn't hesitate to take her on a long trip tomorrow. She just needs a good home and an owner that appreciates the car for what it is.

I'd be happy to answer specific questions or provide additional detail photos if that would help. Pretty sure the PO added some Euro bits. Also think there is an additional oil cooler--hence the bumper scoop.

Nice car! High 30s for sure maybe more.

Desirable color and records history and if it runs as good as you say...

I'm not crazy about the later black center fuchs on middies. To me it always looks like it's trying to be an SC, but then you see the bright trim and narrow body. I tried the same on my car and ended up going with RSR finish on my fuchs. Looks more 70's appropriate imho. But then again with the 3.2 swap and minor mods, you are into hot rod territory in a sleeper sorta way.

The 3.2 would command a cooler. So yeah, it's gotta have one. Great car. I'm thinking 40's considering records, care and cleanliness.

Would bring big bucks if original engine was kept. Even if in pieces...

40ish. Rare color for 74 and great story and patina. I also would ditch the black fuchs, as well as the dark mirror. I'll buy you a new chrome one if you will give me your black one.

This is the kind mid year car that gives mid year cars a good rep.
The 2.7 does not have the bad stigma much any more so the 3.2 swap is not the value increaser it once was, even can be a detractor to some.
I think 35k is light, but would be a fast sell. Around 40k could be had with some good pictures and description like you have done here. I think you are getting into high ground at 45k but not entirely out of the question with some patience and the right venue like BAT.
Nice car, good luck.

Don't know '74's well enough to comment on value (they are their own, unique animal), but:

'74 Vintage
Bright trim retained
no rust
good patina
non-sunroof
carbed 3.2

That checks a lot of boxes for Porsche enthusiasts. This is the type of car I'd start high and let market dictate value.

I would personally put it on BaT.

Yes- if you really want to sell your 74, put it on BAT. That seems to be the best market as of now.

Anybody know the scoop on the perforated door trim panel where a speaker would be on a 75 or later car. I thought a ‘74 only had a dash speaker?

You're referring to a replacement dash. The same Dash was used from 1970 to 1975. The 1969 was very similar but had a slightly smaller speaker. From the angle I can't definitively tell if it has a removable speaker grill.

My understanding was a 75 had both door and a dash speaker but a 74 had only the dash speaker
