No, he accepted payment at his “buy it now” price. If you are accepting bids you say,”that’s my best current offer. If I don’t get another in X days it is yours. I will give you a chance to counter if I get a better offer.” I’m a firm believer best offer can be over ask, but if you make a deal you keep a deal.

Now what was the conversation/pressure to make him agree to his bottom dollar price. "I have been in the bus. a long time and this car needs a lot of work and you will not get a higher offer"? Or "I am going to flip this car to a friend after I fix it up and it will take a lot of money to do that so I need to buy it right at you bottom dollar price"? Or is the seller just pond scum and took his money knowing full well he /she was going to accept higher offers? |

I paid $4500 for my 912E as a ran when parked 4 years ago car. I put 2 dozen hours and $500 worth of parts into it in the 6 months I owned and sorted it. Am I a flipper? I would argue that ever cent of the $2000 "profit" I made was earned.

This is not complicated.Seller was not a Porsche guy.He had a repair shop for American cars and large fenced in 1 acre yard full of various cars.I stopped in to talk to him and he told me this car in his pole barn behind his house.I looked at it and told him it was in pretty good shape overall.I reached out to the forum as I do not follow 356 cars.I paid him.I was going to clean the carbs.Fill up the float bowls and fire it up.Store in my garage until she could pick it up.The guy was just greedy and got more money. That is it.Fred

how the hell did this turn into another flipper thread?
and how the hell did fred end up on trial?! a deal was made, and payment executed. an unscrupulous buyer backed out for more money. that is the sellers right if he's cool with the moral consequences. i fail to see how fred did anything in this scenario to question what he's all about...

My State Trooper friend is a Porsche friend who ran the VIN and it was clean.I am not TOTAL idiot. He bought a 914-6 off a used car lot in Pa.in 85 titled as a 1970 914-4.I checked it out and it was an original 914-6.He had just completed auto theft as part of his trainingThe cool part of BS it can be checked out.His name is Glenn Langston.Phone is 908-528-8501.He still has the 914-6 with the original motor built to a 2.4S SPEC BY ME from my Mango Green Hotrod. He has the original motor.Car only has less than 40k.Want to find about me.Call the cop.Badge is 4401 unless my dementia has progressed.I only buy Porsches for my girlfriends and diamonds for my wife.Ciao Fred

No,it is not the queen. There is another member who posted reply on here who knows her but he is a person of integrity and will not disclose. This happened one other time when I first joined the club in 1973.There was a red 64 Carrera 2 cabriolet that needed a little rust repair in the jacking areas for $4500 in our monthly newsletter.I looked at the car and made a deposit and scrambled to come up with the rest.A few days later I returned to pay but the car was gone.Another member had shown up after me and offered him $500 more.I got my deposit back.So the advice of bring cash and remove car was right on.Fred

For the love of God, another simple "thread gone wild" episode. There's nothing to analyze, nothing to see. Fred reported an unfortunate experience.
Move along.
