That is one clean '77. But at even at $24K (which is probably market correct and realistic in most peoples' minds), no one seems to care - not to mention, at all, at $31K.

The OP car needs paint and has rust, it is a 74 but really you think 28-32K is a fair market and 40k is possible on BAT? because in some states it is smog exempt?
So a rusty smog exempt is worth that much more? what would a nice 74 like my 77 bring? That estimate could help the OP decide to buy this 74 or a nicer one if it is only 10k, it takes well over 10k to do a fenders off, glass out, repaint with all new seals.

I personally really doubt a nice no rust painted 74 like my 77 would get 50K on BAT or be worth 38-42K as a fair market price.
OP car is fair at 25K for all parties is my guess.
But then again I was really wrong on this 77 value, so OP would probably be wise to ignore my advice.

Problem is that at this point in the game, all midyears are not created equal. Prices show this.

There has been an interest in the "rookie card" '74 year G-body, and that interest has translated to higher prices. It just has.

To someone in the game (and there are a lot of Californians in the game), the '74 and '75 are more desirable.

I don't know what the correct value is for your '77. Obviously, in its condition, it's better than most I've seen. It has a galvanized body, better updates, and it's more refined than a '74. But why hasn't it sold? Why has it been a struggle to break $25k?

BaT or not, there are some people that are still hung up on the stigma of midyears. To some, they would rather wait it out and find a '74 because it is more desirable in this game - right now.

Would it matter to me? No. I would rather have your '77 over my '75 because it's much cleaner - and it's cleaner than most I have seen. That '77 is a great value. I'd rather have it over a SC.

The market is strange. But an orphan '77 midyear Targa with a different motor still could be a hard sell - and this proves it.

Does it have manual windows? Sunroof?
7s all around - still narrow body (no SC/carrera flares)?
Original color black?

I'm in CA and I like hot-rods (which somebody previously said - this one is halfway there) - so my biased opinion is around 30 as it sits. And you couldn't build it for that without some serious scrounging.. and luck.

Sounds like a fun car. I have an aubergine '75 non-sunroof coupe shell I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with. Hard to figure out pricing on the middies, but certainly still lagging behind everything else.

@Flynt...... yep, pretty sure 7's all around. Black, stock non flared body, rust in front fenders. I assume original paint but tired. I really should not be even thinking about this car, I don't know where I'd put it and I need to get a car for my 15 1/2 year old in a few months.

Yup, good point on the smog.
If I had not tried to sell this car recently I would say Derrick estimate is right on.

The market changes monthly.
The 77 is a good car, I really do not want it but I will buy it if I can not find someone else to buy it.
Buy it Matt.

Definitely not smog exempt in California
Just no smog chec required.
To be legal, car must be smogged to engine year. But that is pretty easy.

^^^ I understand the law the way it’s written. But the facts are nobody is checking 75 and older vehicles. I walked in to DMV for my 74 from another state and they handed me the new registration, plates and tags sight unseen.
So we can we just say their exempt without being corrected?
