I may be wrong but it looks like the fuel pump mounting bracket when the fuel pump was located at the rear of the car, near the torsion bar tube.

+1 on the worm drive. Mine is an older Skil 77, no issues with straight cuts. I think it is the added weight and balance.

Yep, PITA. Suggestions above all help, especially if car was painted. I found that leaving in warm to hot water for a bit before installing helped as well.

Mine is about 6 years old, keeps great time and have not needed any service. Not my daily watch but the size works well for me. Only negative is setting the date, not as easy as some others.
