Mine do but my car was converted to euro specs by the PO - maybe they did it wrong. Aren't the turn signal bulbs dual filament even on the US models? (dimmer for parking brighter for signal)

Huh, that part does look familiar... I remember taking my mirror out a couple of years ago to repair a break in the heating element but I don't remember glueing anything. I'll have to check!

+1 on multimeter. My guess is parasitic drain has discharged your battery one too many times and now it won't take a charge. You should get some compensation from the warranty/exchange.

If it's an LCD and the display works but it's dim then the backlight's failed. The backlight is probably an LED or small incandescent. If you can easily access it repair shouldn't be too difficult...

The relay kit is a good upgrade but to go from shorting higher current to shorting lower current isn't a fix. If it smoked with only the parking lights on the relay kit won't help at all.
