my s2 needs help few things...

i have been having this problem ever since i took my s2 to the beach. after i got back she would die after idling for a bit usually at a red light just in time for the green light... i heard a whining coming from the fuel tank area so i assumed it was my fuel pump. so i replaced it and no luck still stalling out and still whining. the fuel filter was replaced only a few months before this began. if anyone has any ideas please let me know...

next problem not as big but still annoying... i replaced my cd player with an in dash dvd with screen ( i was planning on hooking up a camera to the rear for a rear view since i dont have one, but i found out i wont be able to listen to music at the same time so i may sell it if anyone is interested) well anyway after the install all my warning lights on my dash wont go off. once again if anyone has an idea please let me know...

and the latest problem...i had my timing belts replaced not to long ago and within a few months before i went back for the readjustment i started to smell coolant. so when i took it to get the belts readjusted i asked them to "take a look" they called me a few hours later and said it was my water pump and wanted to charge me 1/2 hour of labor for the look and wouldnt readjust my belt. had i known they were gonna charge i wouldve taken it to my friend and had it looked at for free. after a bunch of bs i got them to tighten the belts and went on my way and had my friend take a look he said it was not the water pump but wasnt sure where from. well anyway i wont ever ever go back to them. and for your sake dont take yours there. forgot the name but its off of mason road in katy, tx.

does anyone know of a good shop in houston, tx

-sounds like you might have a vacuum leak somewhere. have you had that looked into?

Either that or maybe your fuel pressure regulator is on the way out. the DME relay is a culprit for stalling many times, also.

yes the dme is a pain. my car didnt run, stalled in my street for about a week with me looking at the whole car for all day. it turned out to be the wiring from the DME was a littlel loose, and all i had to do was twist it a little or push the wiring toward the middle of the car.

There's a fuel Strainer inside tank at feed point. It can get clogged. You can drain tank then remove this with a open ended wrench. Looks like a part of a wiffle ball. Take it out and carefully clean and reinstall.

I would think the DME Relay would cut out completely or warm start issues, if that was it, but??

Check your Fuel Press at the Fuel rail. Or you could look to see if your spark plugs are White. Signs you're running lean.
That's where I'd start.

Charged 1/2 hr to look at water pump doesn't seem outta line for diagnostic. I would of done that at belt change anyway.

I agree with Jim...nobody works for free including you. To inspect the water pump, covers had to be removed and reinstalled. It's unreasonable to expect them to do that for free. I sent you an email with a name of someone who is the only one I take any of my cars to. He is honest as the day is long and I haven't found anything yet that he hasn't fixed. If you want his number, send me an email.

My fuel pump groaned badly when the FPR started to fail, causing the fuel pressure to go sky-high (>100psi). Car still ran pretty well in my case, however.

Does it idle steady at ~800rpm? Hunt around at all?
RPMs drop perilously low when you come off throttle and then bounce?

Stalls just in time for a green light, as in step on the gas and it stalls or just bad luck?

there is much more to the story about the half hour labor charge, but i just would have liked to have known about being charged before the 4 bolts were undone that cost me almost 50 bucks.
but thanks for the help i am going to look into the fpr that was my next guess and if that doesnt work i may try the strainer. i attempted to test the fuel pressure but the adapter wouldnt fit without kinking the hose.
razorback- i may need that number i will let you know
gtroth- it has bounced sometimes buyt not always and it stalls without touching the gas i can save it sometimes by pumping the gas

i dont think its a vacuum leak i looked around but not in depth

i also forgot to mention it does this randomly and i think more often when it is hot and humid, also it began when i went to the beach and the first time i ever filled it to the top

thanks for the tips
