996 Twin Turbo Brake Calipers
Does anyone know if/what I would need to change on my 2006 997 C2 to use a set of 996 Twin Turbo Calipers?
Thanks!!!! |

I'm doing 996TT on my 996 C2, but I haven't heard of anyone doing 996TT on a 997... I'd assume they are far too different as you'd need to change wheel carriers.
You may have better success looking at putting 997 TT or 997 GT3 brakes on your 997 C2. At least then you're in the same generation. Cheers Aaron |

What I should have said is that I HAVE a set of 996 TT Calipers and would like to use them, not should I go out and buy them. If I were starting fresh, I'd just go buy a set of 997 S calipers and be done with it...

Ah well that is a little different... I don't know if it is possible or not, and my experience has shown me that it is almost impossible to find people that do this sort of custom swap.
Even with mine, I've had to piece together information from many sources as no one person gave me all the information I needed to know. I do write a blog now on the subject of DIY but it won't help you. http://emeraldapple.wordpress.com What I would recommend is to email companies that make brake upgrade kits and see if they have fabricated an adapter to do what you're looking to do. Oh one more thing, is that you need to check the volume on your master cylinder as with mine I've had to upgrade the MC to a Turbo one to be correct for the new calipers.

We are now working on a low priced way to hang 996 GT-3 brakes rotors and calipers on a standard 996 front upright. The rear GT-3 calipers with rotors are a direct bolt on.
Bill Rudtner pm me for details

Low cost, Porsche, GT3, all in one post... haha
The cost of the calipers and rotors front in back is killer on a GT3, and that's not speaking ceramic. You'll also need an upgraded master cylinder and if you have PSM you'd have to see if a Turbo will work as it had PSM, the GT3 did not. Give us more info... PS My swap is complete now to TT. All in with new MC and new wheel carrier bearings was $1,800. Cheers Aaron |

What we have is a Koni Challenge car. These cars were built on a stock 996 platform. We are looking at brake options to be more than competitive in PCA club racing so, we are working out the details on installing GT-3 calipers with GT-3 type front rotors on a 996 based car. This would give our customer's GT-B PCA classed car superior stopping power over the rest of the field. Due to class rules we are not allowed to change the uprights. I figured if I can do it on a 996 Koni others might be interested. I'll keep all the Pelicans posted.

And yes..."Low priced" and Porsche in one sentence is a bit of an oxy-moranic statement but, it's all relative.

The 997 non S to 996TT brake upgrade is identical to the 996 to 996TT brake upgrade. Wheel carriers are needed until someone like rudtners makes an adapter for all of us.

By the way, I have an extra set of front 996TT calipers (big reds) left over from my project for sale. $500 plus shipping.
