Porsche Crest Rear Wheel Bearing Issues :Help:

Hi Everyone... attempted to do a wheel bearing swap on my 997 today and ran into an issue while attempting to press the new bearing in.

I was using a Press and Pull kit on the car instead of a hydraulic press and for some reason the bearing just would not go in square... I ended up removing it and trying again and then It got a bit worse... Ended up removing everything and at this point will just do it via Hydraulic press.

The wheel carrier was slightly damaged and I'm looking for advise on how to repair this or if need to replace the entire thing.

There is a small ridge on the right side of the carrier , you can clearly feel it. I was thinking I could just use a dremel to debur it.

Advise would be greatly appreciated !

TIA

A lot of the universal press and pull kits I have seen are a disaster waiting to happen; they make it far too easy to get to exactly where you are, as they make it too easy to cock the bearings in the hub, and nearly impossible to get them in straight.

I would touch up the ridge (slightly) with a carbide burr and then use the hydraulic press to reassemble the hubs.

Memo for future readers: Either spend the money to get the correct Sir B90 wheel bearing tooling, or plan on removing the hubs and taking them to someone with a hydraulic press. Just about everything else is going to take you somewhere you did not plan to go.......

Thanks for the advise!... whats crazy is I was using the SirTool ... I think I used too small of a front plate when doing the press and that caused the bearing to go out of square... The front plate i used was #13 ,,, which seamed to sit nicely and was only slightly smaller then the bearing, but i should of used the large flat plate. At this point I don't think I can get it in there any other way besides using a press... So going to tackle this now and see if the bearing seats nicely.

Did you freeze the bearing first? Even with the best tools we hobbiests need to take every advantage possible.
