Hi guys nice to meet you all. Finally I was managed to find a very good site with E30 enthousiasts that speaks English!!!!
I have some questions if you could help me. I own a 318 with the M10 motor (the one with the carburator ![]() Another thing is the air filter. Do you think that the K&N solution in the given air filter is worth its money. Should I change the whole filter box???? Thank you beforehand.

I'm not sure what you are asking about the brakes. Are you asking if you will have to change the brakes if you go up to a 16 inch wheel?
As for the K+N, the answer is yes and no. K+N filters increase airflow, but they do not necessarily increase power. In many cases, depending on how the filter is setup, you can actually LOSE power. In most cases, this is when you have an open cone filter that has not been shielded from the hot air under the hood. Essentially, they increase airflow at the expense of filtration. K+N or other filters will not filter as well as the stock unit. So you have to clean the filter more often. If you are looking for a bit more power, I would reccommend you advance the timing until it pings, then back it off. This will net you a small power increase, however you must run high octane fuel at all times to prevent detonation. You may also want to increase the size of the main jet in the carburetor. What carb are you running? Solex? Zenith? Weber? This will help get more fuel into the motor. Do this along wth the K+N and you might see a small power increase. As with anything else, do your homeowrk, read up as much as you can, and ask questions. the K+N increases airflow, but does not really increase power. |

Thanks a lot for the tips
![]() About the brakes just what rotors and calipers can I use in the given wheels and not on 16" ??? As far as the filter concerns I run on a Solex carb you konw the electronic twin one. I thought of increasing the main jet myself but i planned on starting with the filter ![]() I thought maybe to cut the filer box up to a point so as to get more air and then block the hot air intake that it has for the winter and then apply a filter inside. Do you think thats a good idea???? Now for the books can you recoomend me some i am willing to read especially for something i like so much ![]() PS: When you say Heavy modded what do you mean???

You would want to run the stock brakes, there isnt any need to modify them for larger wheels.
Your ideas for the filter sound good, but you would want to advance the timing and run high octane fuel to take full advantage. as for heavily modded, here's what I have in my car 1989 BMW 325is - Bilstein Sports Shocks - Eibach Sport Springs, lowers car 2 inches - Larger front and rear Sway bars - Dinan Chip - Free flow exhaust - Cold Air Induction with custom heat shield - 10 degrees neg. camber on all wheels - 1000 watt sound system with 18 inch sub in trunk |
