My 94 325Is with 145000 miles I changed plugs,air & fuel filter.
I only use priemium gas. The problem is when I step on the gas under light load the eng. pins in 1st,2nd. & 3rd. Other than the noise the car runs great , on the last trip on freeway W/O air on & running at speed the car got 29.5 M.P.G Can any one tell me is it the millage on Eng or do I have a problem ? Any sugestions would be great thanks Vic |

Pull and check the codes:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/techarticles/Mult-Code_Reading/Mult-Code_Reading.htm Code 1225 is for the knock sensor. If the sensor goes bad, the car will be confused about whether the car is pinging or not. I have a bad knock sensor on my 93 325is right now, and it is pinging like crazy, and in the past, it has popped the code. Let me know what you find out... -Wayne

That may be the problem.
BMW engines sometimes have problems when using platinum plugs. The problem with the Platinum plugs is the insulator, because of the design, it's very easy for it to foul or not conduct enough spark. I would suspect that the problem would be futher enhanced by the chip, as it essentially advances the timing, and might be causing detonation (pinging) I would try running just the regular Bosch F7 LDCR dual electrodes and see what happens. |

NGK BKR 6 EK would be the stock plug. Should be no problem running those.

Jared & Wayne you guys are great thanks for the help. I had to go & pull a plug It's a bosch Platinum 2 Only number I could find is 4303. I check codes like you sugested the only number I seen to get was 1444 . Do you recomend the NKG plugs or a different Bosch plug.

The chip is probably causing the pinging. See here:
